Just in time, I was having a conversation with someone earlier that if a bunch of straight people got together and had a "straight pride festival" with a parade and what not to show their love for the opposite sex. Would it be equality or arrogance?

The conversation ended with him bitching about how the argument had no logic behind it and a bunch or straight people wouldn't gather for something like that ... they would just go to Vegas and I think I pissed him off (he says he is a gay supporter)

What do you think FJ?

These pride festivals are a little less about being proud of who you are and more about standing up to oppression. Straight people have never been oppressed. I mean, gay people aren't "proud" of being gay as some sort of accomplishment. A Pride Parade means "pride" as in "there is nothing wrong with who we are and we won't be bullied into thinking there is." From that point of view, having a Straight Pride Parade wouldn't make much sense.

Straight people don't need a straight pride festival, or whatever. There is no harassment towards straight people for them being straight. I think gay pride stuff is about being proud of who you are and being able to publicly admit it without fear of abuse of being looked down upon.
