well yes, it is based in economics, but it's been debated in politics for some time now. the left believes that all rich persons should pay outrageous taxes on everything and generally pay more simply because they have more money. the right believes the opposite.

Most left wingers only want the rich to pay taxes equal to the taxes they pay at lower incomes...Percentage wise. The extreme left wants them to pay more, though they would be paying proportionately more in either case based on their incomes
