fartbending arrow?

Once reaching master status, airbenders are tattooed with five light blue arrows: one extending from the base of the spine to the forehead, one for each arm pointing to the hands, and similarly for the legs. The design is in emulation of the flying bison's natural markings, as they were the first airbenders. Unlike most master airbenders who gain their status later in life, Aang received his tattoos when he was only twelve after his invention of the air scooter, making him the youngest airbending master in existence.

Why does everyone say 3? I thought he was 5.
Either way that is the Air Benders society. Its what they do, its what they grew up doing. They dont view it as tattooing a child, they view it as he earned his arrows for making a new technique.

The only reason why Aang got his tattoos early is because of his status.
Aang was the fucking Avatar, He also completed 35/36 levels of Airbending. Creating the air-scooter was a short cut to get his tattoos before passing the 36th level.
ALL of that together is why he got his tattoos. Not just the damn scooter.
If I created a wind tunnel that imitates me getting a blowjob, do I get my tats? No. I have to pass the 36 levels of Airbending. I'd probably have the elders frown upon me too
