My opinion is this movie had potential to be good but failed on lots of levels. The only thing they got right was the casting of Aang. The dialogue was laughable, the characters seemed distant as there wasn't enough build up into them, the whole fire nation looked pathetic and Ozai did not strike fear in anyone as he just looked like a taxi driver lost on the set of the last Uhvater.

I love ATLA and LOK. Honestly, I enjoyed the movie. I understand why most people hate on the movie: the pronunciation of the names was just plain horrible, none of the characters acted how they truly are, only Aang looks somewhat like the real one and the fact that firebenders needed a physical fire source was what really ticked me off (although I kind of get their point: they're supposed to bend). (The list goes on...) I believe they did intend to make the cartoon into a movie but unfortunately they failed at basically everything. Now, I did say I enjoyed it and I hold to that. I enjoyed it because the effects were actually very well done. The remaining aspects of the movie must and have to be improved by lightyears if they care and wish to truly depict the awesomeness of the series. I will watch the rest of the movies (if they film them) but I also hope they improve, at least, the acting.

You don't actually have a clue about this show do you? Toph came into the show on the second book. This shitty excuse for a film was based only on the first book.

No, I love the show, I just didn't watch the movie.
So I didn't know if it focus on the first book through the second.
I thought the movie would have done the first book and then half of the second or something that seeing it was by Shomalon or however You spell his name.
Like I said, 20 mins in, I didn't know what in the movie was after that.
(P.S. I've seen the show more then three times, all seasons.)
