Anyone consider the reason it was so intense when Aang took away the Fire Lord's bending was because they were both immensely powerful benders? I don't know about anyone else, but most of the bending I have seen so far in TLoK has been rather insignificant in comparison into most of the bending done during the time of the war.

I really think the blue blue/orange was an artistic interpretation of the battle of their wills to see whose was less bendable. Given that the only people Amon faced were weak willed bullies, it would make sense there would be no struggle. Also, a giant light show every time he took someones bending would get annoying.

Or
maybe
Just maybe
I could be crazy here, so stick with me
You still with me?
alright
Maybe Amon
You still following me?
Okay, so maybe Amon is using a completely different technique
But, I'm sure I'm just crazy

When Aang does it he is energy bending. I am still under the impersonation that Amon is using a higher style of Chi-blocking

I realy don't think Amon can take away someones bending completely just the "brute force" or "Use of it" See Amon just places his fingers on his victims heads, when Aang did it to Ozai Aang placed his fingers on his head and heart. Which could just be a blocked Chakra like when Aang lost the Avatar state when Azula shot him in his center. So i believe Amon can take away the physical side of bending but not the Spiritual side. So once´╗┐ the victim realizes or finds his or hers spirit again then that is when there bending will return. And I remember Aangs Guru said that everyone can bend its just being able to match the energies. Everyone can bend, Toph learned bending from Bagermoles, The original fire Benders learned it from dragons.

aang had to take away ozai's spirit without corrupting himself. amon on the other hand is alleardy corrupted, thus meaning he doesn;t have to worry about someone else's spirit making him evil

Look at your bending powers
Now look at mine
Now look back yours
Sadly, you don't have them anymore
I stole them
Now look back at me

that is a part of my theory that amon is just a really good chi blocker and can't remove bending
#178 - smede (05/26/2012) [-]
When Aang energy bends he places his fingers on two different chi points, one on the forehead, and one on the heart/chest ( possibly to symbolize the physical, and spiritual parts of bending )

However Amon only puts his finger on the forehead to remove bending, so obviously it's not the same technique, and could be revealed later in the series that it's not actually permanent seeing as how it only blocks one of the chi points, not both, as the ancient lionturtle taught aang.

You realize that since Amon isn't a bender, it's a completely different process, right? He has no risk of losing an inherent bending ability, which would also explain why he does it differently.
