heres a theory

Back in the original Avatar: The Last Airbender, Aang had a confrontation with Azula, in which he was shot in the back with lightning, and temporarily died. During his short death, the new Avatar was born in order to continue the avatar cycle. This new avatar was Amon. When Aang was then revived by Katara, Amon lost his ability to bend, but was still connected to the spirits as with any avatar. Then when Aang actually died, and Korra was born, she was able to bend, but was not a spiritually connected avatar, as stated in one of the episodes. This is why Amon can energy bend, a skill only previously used by the avatar, and the lion turtle.

That couldn't be possible because Aang was killed while in the Avatar state, which means it would stop the Avatar cycle.

but he "died" while in the avatar state, which would then halt the avatar line forever...

okay, but what about the age difference?
Korra is 17, she was born when Aang died which was 70 years after the original series.
so that would make Amon about 87 years old...

if he can still do chi blocking and energy bending at 87 i will be impressed.

Aang was in the Avatar state, iirc.
The cycle would have stopped.

This can't be true because Azula killed Aang in the Avatar state, and it is stated that if the avatar dies in the avatar state then the continuation of the avatar will not occur, meaning that Amon wouldnt have been able to be the avatar.

When the Avatar is killed in the Avatar state, the cycle is broken (iirc that was stressed quite a lot in the early parts of Book 2) i.e. no new avatar would have been born when Aang temporarily died at the end of book 2.

if amon was born when aang temporarily died, he would've been around 100 year old by now.

false, according to the avatar wikki, aang died of age at 166. since he was 112-114 in the series when ang died the first time, and amon was born, he would be 52 when Korra was born. since korra is 17, 52+17 is 69. so Amon would be 69 in this scenario, if it is true

...
LOL 69

His age doesn't matter at all no matter how many times you repeat it. Your theory is just terrible to begin with due to lack of research and or knowledge about the show. Had you known/done proper research you would know that your theory is impossible. Roku clearly stated that if killed while in the avatar state the cycle would cease to exist. Since we was in the avatar state when Azula shot him, no new avatar would have been born as the cycle would have ended with Aang.
