Well, Zaheer is an airbender, but not a monk. The monks were against killing anything, and only fought in self-defense, but were overwhelmed by the Fire Nation.
I get what you mean though, they could've killed all the firebenders, or at least escaped, but they didn't because they were pacifists.
They're like the Tibetan monks who China was killing a while ago. They don't believe in violence. I don't get why, it's perfectly understandable to defend your culture when it's being attacked, but they considered their values more important than fighting.
Also like CrazyWhiteGurl said, the firebenders got a huge boost in power from Sozin's Comet.
I always disliked that airbending never had any really lethal techniques even though it makes sense for their culture. I'm surprised I didn't think of them being able to do this earlier
I had thought about it, but I never thought they'd actually put it in the show. Legend of Korra is so much ******* darker than the original, I'm really enjoying it.
yeah I really like how the creators are actually making people die in this one. no one died in The Last Airbender not even Fire Lord Hitler, people were only subtly implied to have maybe died
"No one died"
Jet
Combustion Man
Zhao
Aang (brought back to life by the spirit water)
Roku and his Dragon companion
And these are just the onscreen non implied deaths.
I can only think of one character who died in TLA, and that was Combustion Man(he blew himself up accidentally). But we've already had multiple deaths in LoK, like Tarrlok and Amon/Noatak, Unalaq(I think i forget what happened to him), and now the Earth Queen. Also, I get a bad feeling something is gonna happen to Opal. I dunno whether she's gonna die, or witness something traumatic, but she's too innocent. She might be brought down in some way.
It was good to see Zuko again, hopefully he becomes a major player again.
That was like a bloodbender actually ripping the liquid out of a living person. What a show! It has exceeded books Fire and Spirit by sooooo far!
Actually Unavaatu got exorcized and since they were one, both were taken down. Also Zuko kinda looks like our dear forever departed Roku.
It's ******* brutal man, I love it. At first, I thought he was just gonna suck out her spirit(cuz Avatar would pull something like that). When she started gagging, I thought to myself "Wow, that's pretty dark. But he's gonna let her live." When they announced she was dead, my ******* jaw dropped. I went back and watched that scene three times just to make sure it really happened. Plus the fight with the Dai Lee was badass.
The bitch had it coming. However, in the lost episode between books Earth and Fire Avatar Kyoshi was with the Earth King who was an ancestor of ATLA´s Earth King. If the bitch didn´t leave a child, a centuries old dynasty was ended in one stroke. And if she left an heir, he/she wont last long.
We have seen two aibending-like executions. Only an airbender could device a spiritual death like the nose piercing guy. (Unalaq used his influence to do that to Jinora while Zaheer did it himself). And this air choke.
Well Iwei isn't dead, he's just wandering in that mist that makes you forget who you are and all. His spirit is trapped there, making his real body basically brain-dead. he's not physically dead, but he can't move, think, or do anything in the real world.
Without food and anyone who cares he is just waiting for an inminent phisical death while trapped in a spiritual torture. Jinora got the best healer on the world to mantain her alive but a random guy on the desert...
Ran out of room.
It's possible, but like Bolin said, only 1 in 100 earth benders can learn metalbending. Maybe Korra is the first who literally could metalbend.
that is true, I guess I was a bit psyched at the thought of seeing one use both fire and water bending to then create steam bending or something (since a water bender could easily water bend steam, the fire would be used to help make it, less restrictive, more deadly )
True, that'd be interesting. I wanna see someone use sound-bending. Bend the vibrations in the air to make people's ears pop and possibly kill them. That'd be awesome.
I'm gonna go to bed now(it's almost 12 a.m. here) but i'll be happy to keep discussing this when I wake up again!
Eh, no need to apologize, I probably should've put spoilers somewhere. Just a heads up though, unless you've seen the episode, it's not the best idea to visit Bendingtime, especially on a Friday night/saturday.
Haha same, I rewatched it three ******* times, it's just that epic.
They're renewed for a 4th season, so I bet that The Red Lotus will be an overarching villain. And I haven't seen much of the game, but I've heard it looks awesome. Hopefully better than the other game for TLA That abomination is only slightly better than the movie .
to what I saw so far, you run around as Korra and can swap between your bending types. It also looks like they just grabbed the show and made it 3D (so not the crappy 3D stuff most other nick games get)
I was originally assuming that they would end this season with them getting out of the earth kingdom, and having an all out battle thing happen in season 4 though, guess I was wrong.
Huh, that actually sounds pretty badass. From what I can remember, I saw a screen shot of Korra against a mechatank, so i'm assuming she's fighting Equalists?
I think they'll escape Ba Sing Se, but by then The Red Lotus will have killed/captured another leader and spread more anarchy.
I just had a crazy idea. What if at the end of the 4th season, The Red Lotus kills Korra, and the story of the next avatar is just them avoiding the RL and trying to restore balance? I doubt it'll happen(Nick needs their happy ending), but it's a cool idea I just thought of.
The game is taking place between seasons 2 and 3, so it is essentially trying to restore the peace after the human world and spirit world merged again.
I would like to think they would do this as well, but with their current record, they will defeat the Red Lotus, or the fact that Zuko is now there, he is the next target.
It would be cool if they had another Avatar series, however LoK was only meant to be a short movie to explain the next avatar, however Nick wanted them to continue with the series, and later wanted more seasons, hence the villains dying out.
Sounds cool. It must've been a big spirit I saw then.
Well with only 3 episodes left, they could definitely squeeze more development and action into the Red Lotus. I hope there will be an overarching villain this time, i'm kinda tired of these one-off villains.
I bet they could get another series out of Nick. It's still one of their most popular series out there(better than the other cartoons they're ******** out) and the fanbase is huge. It'd be a loss for Nick to end it after Korra, they'd be smart to renew it.
Yeah. It'd be kinda bittersweet if they left it after Korra. On one hand, they wouldn't be able to ruin the series, like other shows that just drag on until nothing is left but a bloody shell of what it once was. On the other, the Avatar world would just end right then and there.
I wanna see more Equalists, I hope it's a mechatank.
Well they ended up continuing TLA through comics (I gotta catch up on those) so they may do the same with LOK. It would be nice for them not to ruin the series, however it is sad when it ends.
To be honest I didnt even watch TLA until I heard about LoK coming out (finally got to watch it when the first season ended) as when I finally had the internet speed to download it, the movie ruined it for me
I'd rather it not become a spongebob thing where they just drag it out and squeeze all the life out of it. But I'd also like it to run for as long as possible. The comics are awesome, I've read them all, but I'd prefer a show because it allows for more fluid movement when they're bending the elements, and you can see the real world influences from the martial arts.
Shyamalamadingdong is a terrible person for that movie.
True, plus the way the animations are made and the choice for music really brings the series to life. If this was made about 10-15 years ago, I would definitely have spent top dollar for the animation cels (I have a problem with collecting things )
Yeah, I'd be so happy with an animation cel. The animation during Wan's story in Season 2 is ******* beautiful, it's probably my favorite animation sequence in the show.
unfortunately the animation cel days are over and the people who know about it are a dying breed
I helped my brother though get all of the main characters from the old Sonic Cartoon series as animation cels (mainly the final art versions of them) just so he can say that he has them all, and the only copies.
I'm not too sure on my favourite sequence within the series though, too many to choose from, though I did find the giant korra at the end of season 2 a bit over the top.
Although it is strange that Korra learned metal bending, however you would think that a past avatar would have used two bending forms together to make a special one, similar to that whole magma bending (but just using earth and fire at once)
I don't think any avatar really thought about it. You have to remember, Toph becoming a metalbender was ******* revolutionary in the art of bending, and lightning bending was so rare, only the most powerful benders could do it. Once Toph taught people how to metalbend, it became more commonplace in the world, and since Aang never learned how, it makes sense Korra learns it.
That is true, however with all of the past avatars, you would assume that one would have thought of it, though that is mu own personal opinion on the matter
