it specifically says no metal bending... What about lightning bending? or even blood bending? those are sub elements as well and they aren't said to be illegal.
User avatar #43 to #1 - WMDxVeLoCiTy (05/29/2012) [-]
what i wanna know is if korra will be allowed to to airbend
User avatar #52 to #43 - bloodysita (05/29/2012) [-]
when she first joined the Fire Ferrets and the other team got all in a tizzy about her being the Avatar and it 'wasnt fair' the ref specifically said that korra could only be on the team if she stuck to one form of bending. she chose water. if she airbended (airbent?) in a match, she could get disqualified or it could be a foul or something.
User avatar #53 to #52 - WMDxVeLoCiTy (05/29/2012) [-]
yea but what if she changed it in between probending seasons?
User avatar #90 to #53 - ngaran (05/29/2012) [-]
but the fire ferrets already have earth and fire benders so it would be pointless for her to switch between seasons
User avatar #91 to #90 - WMDxVeLoCiTy (05/29/2012) [-]
yea but if she got good at airbending(not mastering it just yet cause that takes years) then she could switch between airbending and waterbending only, or just permanently switch to airbending and be the only airbender in the league
User avatar #94 to #91 - ngaran (05/30/2012) [-]
but there wouldn't be any other airbenders in other teams. that would defeat the balance of the whole game.
User avatar #95 to #94 - WMDxVeLoCiTy (05/30/2012) [-]
still would be cool, i mean i dont see anything wrong with it. it's a form of bending so by saying no to that would be like saying that jamal cant play hockey because he's black
User avatar #54 to #53 - bloodysita (05/29/2012) [-]
good point. during that episode i was wondering if the ref meant one element per game and if she could change for the next game.
User avatar #55 to #54 - WMDxVeLoCiTy (05/29/2012) [-]
there are so many loopholes in the pro bending rules it's crazy
User avatar #27 to #1 - dascruffy (05/28/2012) [-]
lightning bending would take more than 1 second i think... wouldn't it? thus illegal move
User avatar #19 to #1 - zyort (05/28/2012) [-]
Blood bending is probably shunned upon in society and can get a very severe punishment on the user. Kind of like Blood Magic from the Dragon Age games.
User avatar #47 to #19 - sketchE (05/29/2012) [-]
also katara is the only person who knows how to do it. sure its probably simple to learn but she was taught by the only known blood bender
User avatar #80 to #47 - nigeltheoutlaw ONLINE (05/29/2012) [-]
She taught one of her proteges bloodbending, who subsequently went mad with power, and is also the only one powerful enough to do it outside of the full moon. I am sure that he will show up as a minor villain at some point.
User avatar #89 to #80 - sketchE (05/29/2012) [-]
when was that mentioned?
User avatar #92 to #89 - nigeltheoutlaw ONLINE (05/29/2012) [-]
It's in the avatar wiki.
User avatar #3 to #1 - KaimanaREG (05/28/2012) [-]
I think bloodbending is only known to Katara and no one else, thus not stated. I guess lightning bending is legal, but since it takes time to create, I wouldn't think it would be too ideal.
User avatar #81 to #3 - nigeltheoutlaw ONLINE (05/29/2012) [-]
As I said before, Katara taught one of her proteges bloodbending, but he became too mad with power and went rogue. He's also powerful enough to do it outside of the full moon.
User avatar #82 to #81 - KaimanaREG (05/29/2012) [-]
Who o_o
User avatar #83 to #82 - nigeltheoutlaw ONLINE (05/29/2012) [-]
I don't know, it's on the avatar wiki somewhere.
User avatar #2 to #1 - moevleboevle (05/28/2012) [-]
I don't think that bloodbending is known among the society. but I agree with your lightningbedning. and in that case... if it is legal to use lightingbending is it then legal to redirect the lightning back?
User avatar #4 to #2 - KaimanaREG (05/28/2012) [-]
We don't know if anyone knows how to redirect lightning besides supposedly alive Zuko.
#6 to #4 - flupperdederp (05/28/2012) [-]
when mako gets a job in episode 3 he and a dozen of other firebenders are lightning bending...
User avatar #21 to #6 - soerd (05/28/2012) [-]
he said redirect not create, there hasn't been any lightning redirection in lok yet.
User avatar #5 to #4 - moevleboevle (05/28/2012) [-]
well a lot of the firebenders knows lightningbending and since Iroh was member of The White Lotus I will suggest that he has taught others
#22 to #5 - masseffectrules (05/28/2012) [-]
no that is ridiculous. a lot of firebenders shouldn't know lightning bending it's an extreme move, only the firelord, Azula and Iroh could do it in TLA.
User avatar #23 to #22 - moevleboevle (05/28/2012) [-]
dude hav'nt you seen LoK? Mako and a lot of other firebenders knows lightning bending! they use it to power the powerplants in the city! cmon!
#29 to #23 - masseffectrules (05/28/2012) [-]
I know, I'm saying it's stupid and shouldn't be that simple. it could be bending lightning or redirection. both should not have been so.

Lightning is an advanced firebending technique. It would be like having a black belt in karate. Sure not everyone is, but if they worked enough they probably could with ease.
#51 to #48 - stringpluckerr (05/29/2012) [-]
how would it be any different than metal bending? sure its a lot more common now but think of it, all of republic city is made of metal. and all of republic city uses elctrcity, so really theyre both dangerous, but seeing now as there are no grudges between nations I think its safe to assume no one is going to go on a lightning or metal bending rampage through the city.
