Fun fact about Wan Shi Tong. In the west, thanks to Athena, goddess of wisdom, Owls are generally seen as symbols of knowledge and wisdom. While in Asia it's the snake, hence his slightly snake like form when angered.

In First Nations culture, owls are messengers of death.

My mother, throughout her life, the passing of a loved one has always been heralded by the sight of an owl.

Naah, snakes has very similar symbolic meanings in Asia as they do over here. For example, in many Buddhist cultures, snakes are seen as the animal representing anger and hate, together with the pig symbolising stupidity (which is ironic, because pigs are some of the smartest animals on Earth together with rats, dolphins and monkeys) and the cockerel symbolising vanity.

Why not, is there something wrong with being from my country? It isn't like I am going around pasting flags everywhere and talking about how the USA is "obviously the best country on Earth", it was topical to the conversation on hand. Or is it that I used the colloquial term "American" instead of saying I am "from the United States"? I figured that even one as brain dead as yourself could figure out I meant that I was from the United States.

what, nah, that's just because it's the new series, and we can actually discuss what we might think is gonna happen in the new season.

ATLA is definitely better than LOK in many different ways.
User avatar #40 to #15 - xdeathspawnx (08/05/2013) [-]
I actually prefer the fight sequences in LOK over ATLA and the fact that the main characters are older. Young kids fighting just usually looks awkward to me for some reason. I also liked the fact that Korra couldn't go avatar state in the first season, meaning that she had to be more creative with her fighting style. However, based basically everything else is done better in ATLA.
User avatar #9 to #7 - hor (08/05/2013) [-]
It was more of a hype thing. I mean, it was still a good show, but everyone I know prefers ATLA to LOK.
User avatar #42 to #7 - srapture (08/05/2013) [-]
I enjoyed LOK, but I just thought that giving her 3 out of 4 elemental powers and then learning the 4th in the first book (I think the refer to the series' as books...) made her too overpowered. Aang started with one and learned the others gradually, book by book. I assume they'll make something out of the 2nd tier bender abilities (lightning, metal, blood, etc.) or the spiritual part because Aang was raised in a monk's temple so he would have known more of that stuff, but it still seems too rushed. In a way, it was also a good move though, because air is the only element we didn't see Aang learn and it is the only element that we do see Korra learn, so none are repeated.

I know that it's less funnier and more serious and doesn't have too many adventures other than the main story and is shorter than ATLA (I finished the whole season in one day), though I enjoyed it, but not as much as I enjoyed ATLA.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWW YIIIIIIIIIIIS! one piece!
thanks to having the "bad guys" perspective they are pirates, labeled as the bad guys, though they do nothing bad, some times we have some moral encounters like "wait... the good guys are not even judging the good acts, nor even know if the bad things are true", then we got sided with the "bad guys" thinking that the "good guys" are corrupted or do not think by themselves, and ordinary people have those kind of rotten people ruling them...
wait... it seems familiar...

The fact that this was a show aimed more at kids is what makes it more fantastic. The artistry is just great, the personalities and characters were blended flawlessly, and it has an actual plot that stays on track. Not only does it have a great plot, it can make you feel happy, it can make you feel sad, it can even make you laugh. I can't tell you how pissed I was to find out the comics "The Promise" and "The Search" (Although "The Search" still needs to be finished) were never made into movies because Nick told the developers of the would-be movies no. At least we have Legend of Korra, and it's just as great, but for different reasons. I would've really liked two (or combine them into one) movie(s), even if I still never got to see more episodes, because The Search would essentially be the last adventure before peace comes to the ATLA universe.

TL;DR: The show was done flawlessly, despite being aimed at kids. I'm glad I never watched it as a kid because I grew up to understand everything about the show.

see this makes a good show. the battle between two sides which sometimes, despite the protagonist's aim to stop one, is hard to tell which side is good/evil or right/wrong

but i also feel in korra there weren't enough legendary animals like the owl, last two dragons, the face stealer. i guess because aang was more tied into the spirit's world and korra is not (for season 1 anyways)
i like that stuff
