A female main character...

That is a total bitch.
Seriously, you never really see this. They totally broke the mold on this one.

I've never seen her as bitchy as most people on here make her out to be. To me, she just has some issues with temper (which is hardly an uncommon theme for story characters)

I really hate Korra, especially Season 2 Korra but they're spot on with making her a teenage girl.

You don't know the definition of "bitch" until you meet Revy
Or you're being sarcastic and I totally missed it, which is probably the case

I think they are portraying her as a love sick 16 year old girl perfectly

You should look at the recent female avatars, they all get shit done by going extreme.

they redeem her in latest one, less bitch and whiny.

i watch the show for bolin

but I like the contrast to Aang.

personally I would have liked to see Kora in Aangs storyline, during a time of war. And vice versa, with Aang fighting the spirits.

Anyway, she's finally woken up and will stop being so bitchy.

I really think you guys are being too hard on her.
All in all she's stuck in a much tougher situation as the Avatar than Aang ever was.
I mean she's being manipulated and used, the line between good and evil is blurred. It's not anywhere near as simple as "The fire nation is killing entire civilizations like assholes, better go kick their asses."

Call me a white knight over a fictional character if you want, but I think she's actually being developed well as an actual female character.
User avatar #162 to #103 - mrbuu (10/01/2013) [-]
she has it tougher than aang? I am sorry have you watched either of the shows?

12 year old that has been asleep for 100 years, all his friends and family are dead, is completely in a new culture because of the time difference, has about a year to learn and master every single element and also face one of the most deadly and ferocious fire benders to have existed in history, all while struggling with dealing with his own fear, love for katara, and being the very last of his entire people. no Korra does not have it harder than Aang. yes she does have it hard but not as much as Aang had it
User avatar #183 to #145 - faridahmalik (10/01/2013) [-]
I think what he meant/should have said was that she has it harder morally, and as she's a teenager, her life's already hard.
User avatar #124 to #103 - sagedivinity (10/01/2013) [-]
I agree for the most part but I think Aang has had the tougher challenge so far. Sure he knew who the threat was but he had to save the entire world from an entire nation of people who have been conquering the globe for a hundred years while also convincing everyone to live together in peace and all at the age of ten while dealing with great loss(air benders being slaughtered) with little guidance for a good part of the series. Yet he still had a positive attitude throughout most of the show.
User avatar #110 to #103 - chezburgadominator ONLINE (10/01/2013) [-]
I agree, I believe a lot of people just compare her actions to Aang's and ignore most of the negative stuff he's done. They're both the Avatar, yes, but that's pretty much where the line is drawn. If anything, It's great that we can see her actions differently, and I think that if we can perceive some of her actions as completely bitchy and hormonal, while still being able to understand some of her actions then it's great.
User avatar #188 to #110 - vortexrain (10/01/2013) [-]
The only negative thing he's done, that I can think of, is hiding the letter informing Sokka and Katara of their father's location in: Bato of the Water Tribe.
User avatar #86 to #62 - joshofsouls (09/30/2013) [-]
yeah, but I can understand her being a huge bitch.
If you were fated from day one to save the world and bring peace to it, while dealing with the issues of others for most your life, while not really being guided in any other way than your bending, wouldn't you be a bit bitchy too?
#92 to #86 - CHODYTHEBLAKGUY (09/30/2013) [-]
yes but she wanted to be the avatar from day 1 she even said that's all she ever wanted to be while most other avatars did not have any desire to be the avatar. I know for sure that roku and aang didn't desire to be the avatar but they did the job to the best of their abilities. korra wanted it yet is having a hard time handling it all
User avatar #93 to #92 - joshofsouls (09/30/2013) [-]
Which is understandable. She might not have understood exactly how hard it would be.
I want to be a fire fighter, it doesn't mean when I get to the job I won't be overwhelmed severely.
#94 to #93 - CHODYTHEBLAKGUY (09/30/2013) [-]
I understand completely she didn't have it easy at all making her way to be the avatar. that kind of job wouldn't be an easy one no matter what you do every choice you make has to be for the good of mankind completely and you cant make any choices really for your own good. you cant ever really take a break everyday you have to make sure the world is kept in balance while being the most powerful bender out there its a little surprising that not many benders are trying to challenge the avatar just to see whos better. but she wanted it and instead of trying her best at all times shes for the most part been just whining and complaining constantly about her problems. which again I understand sometimes its good to let out your feelings it helps relieve stress and such but unless someone is helping show her what she has to do shes like a lost puppy just whining until someone helps her out. it saddens me to watch it be like that but I continue watching hoping that the show will develop better to where she isn't so whiny to where she is a fully developed avatar who can handle these problems and a few master benders isn't much of a problem for her because of her avatar powers and such

Shut up faggot! You're only saying that because you think its popular to say "She's a bitch!"
I think She's a good character! There's my opinion! Not someone else's.

She's a bitch because she made out with another girls man while she was supposed to be on a date with his brother. She's a bitch because she asserts herself into things that are not her business. She's a bitch because she is a cocky asshole to literally everyone.
User avatar #125 to #97 - xXCorpitoXx (10/01/2013) [-]
Then wouldn't Aang be the biggest asshole for running away from his responsibility as Avatar and letting his entire tribe die out?
Do you expect a perfect main character? Well too fucking bad
And btw for being female and being the Avatar She isn't THAT cocky. She isn't T|HAT bad at all
User avatar #119 to #97 - snowshark (10/01/2013) [-]
So... basically she's a troubled teenager who suffers from poor education of life-skills and a lack of self-control and overconfidence?

Those are neither uncommon nor bad. What would be bad is if she never progressed past it... which is kinda what we're seeing in this new season. I really hope the writing team is better than just having their overly obvious villain as being just a cruel, overly-obvious villain and actually being more like Tarlok in the end but the way Unalaq being shown in the new season... eh, I don't care for it. I hope the writers are better than most people are giving them credit for.
User avatar #141 to #119 - xXCorpitoXx (10/01/2013) [-]
The show isn't over yet. Give her time to mature. She may not be fun like Aang was but who the fuck want 2 Aang-like Avatars in a row? Actually i would kinda like that but I think Korra is ok. We're gonna have to deal with it! I means its not like we're paying to watch it anyways. Who knows there might be some bad ass twist or something later
User avatar #243 to #141 - snowshark (10/01/2013) [-]
Oh certainly. I'm not the kind of person who dislikes flawed characters (honestly, Trevor from GTA V is one of my favourite characters in video gaming for both his simplicity and his complexity) and I have much more faith in the writing staff than most seem to have so I've not lost a shred of hope for another great season. Seriously though, Bolin has been the real stand-out character in all of LoK and I'm glad we're getting much more of him as well as seeing him diversify from being 'This group's Sokka'.
