Aang was in the avatar state. If he was killed, which he was, the cycle would end forever.

Katara healed him with the moon spirit water so he was revived spiritually as well as physically continuing the cycle. But him being severely injured while in the Avatar state may explain why Korra sucks at the spiritual stuff.

Or you know, since Korra's great with the bending stuff and has to be for the show to work due to the environment she's in, she has to have some sort of weakness.

The development of the show was to show the rest of Avatar in all it's glory. Aang already knew airbending so his journey was the rest of the elements. So the developers flipped it for this season. Now we have just air to watch and learn as well as the spiritual side. As for Amon and tarlok and all that jazz stop speculating about it and just wait to find out.

Not exactly sourcing, but when Aang was talking to the Lion Turtle, he explained how "in the time before the Avatar" people were not able to bend elements, but their energy. The avatar was not the only one capable of doing this.

ok but she hasn't gone into the Avatar State yet and she has been in life threatening situations countless times. even Aang went into the Avatar State long before he made contact with the spirts of Roku,Kyoshi,etc and went into the spirit world as well. something is definitely not right about it. perhaps the book one finale will prove otherwise but who knows.

I don't know who thumbed you down, because you're right. Almost all of the main White Lotus members were older, but they were some of the most amazing benders. Just look at Iroh, Pakko, Jeong Jeong and Bumi. Bumi single handedly took back Omashu and was at least 110. Not to mention Avatar Kyoshi lived to be close to 230.

No seriously, she is. She was BORN an Earthbender, and why do you think she struggles with airbending? It's her opposite element! Like Aang struggled with earthbending, it's his opposite element!

If she was born as an Earth Avatar, explain why her family lived in the south pole, why they had a history of water bending, and why the White Lotus was searching areas populated with waterbenders.
Just because she has difficulty with Airbending does not mean she is an Earth Avatar. It means that the Air element is the opposite of her personality. Most Avatars have a personality that match their native element, and that is why they have a difficulty with the opposite. Korra has a personality of an Earth bender, but she was born into the Water Tribe.

I've heard this theory many times and my main problem with it is this:
If Amon was born when Aang was shot at Ba Sing Se (assuming the next Avatar is born immediately as shown in Aang's vision with Roku in "The Avatar and The Firelord" then this would make Amon currently 70 years old. Judging by his athletic talent (not that some old-timers aren't athletic in the show such as original Bumi and much of the White Lotus) and his voice. I just don't see it.

tl;dr Amon is too young to have been born at same time Aang "died" he can't be a partial Avatar

But actually, we've seen the avatar before Yangchen in one of Aang's talks with Roku where we see an Avatar dressed as one of the Fire-Temple Guardians bending lava out of volcanoes. So it's 4 males and 3 females.

2 problems that I have with your statement.
1. It wouldn't have to be from the Water Tribe. It just has to be from a Waterbending bloodline. Now that people have been relocated, she could have been born anywhere. Or she could have been born into Swamp tribes regardless.
2. There have been 6 avatars who have been named, and of these avatars there is an even male/female split.
Yangchen - female; Kuruk - Male; Kyoshi - female; Roku - male; Aang - male; Korra - female

By that logic, couldn't a waterbender just freeze all the fluids in ones body (and perhaps make all frozen parts shatter afterwards) to make someone die a very painful death?

avatars are around to keep balance, but what happens whem the avatar keeps it unbalanced? Amon is there to continue the balance

I want to throw some ideas at you.
First one - Amon could be a bloodbender/waterbender. It has been shown that strong waterbenders can resist other's bloodbending and would make him able to do it.
Second - What if Amon did master the energy bending technique originally shown by Aang? If he wanted to, he could bend his own energy to make is so that he could bend any element.

Am I the only one who thinks amon is that little boy zuko met in that episode where zukko travled on his own a whent to that farm

i have also heard this theory.Most people assume this because he was a farm boy who's family was at war with the fire nation.But lets do the math.Lee(the farm boy) by the looks of him was about 8-10.When Zuko meets him hes 16,the same age he was the day of sozins comet.At the time of LOK zuko is 87.That means that Lee would be around 80.Not to say old people cant fight(Bumi was 112) but they would still look old.Im not just talking about the face,but Bumi had a sizeable hump that he carries regularly,and most if not all the characters over 80 sounded like they were old,while amon appears to be in his 30-40's and a voice that matches that.Also how did Lee learn energy bending?Or learn to resist blood bending?Its still a good theory though.

Amon could be a bloodbender,but if he was indeed born a bender then why the hatred for all things bending?And how is he able to bloodbend without the full moon like tarlok?I mean toph had to teach others how to metalbend when she discovered it,so the only way he would know how to do it is by having been taught it by A.Hama the original creator(she would most likely be dead before amons time)B.Katara(she probably wouldn't teach anyone that)or C.Yakone,and although this is possible,is it really likely he was taught by Yakone?.I believe Amon can actually energybend just from the facts presented in the series,but we know so little about energy bending besides it has the power to take away someones bending,but if it can be taken,can it also be transfered?Thats what im basing my theory off of anyway.

I gave some thought to this until i saw the last episode,asami was with mako and bolin when searching for korra the whole time,and since amon fought korra i think we can rule out that theory.

Damn... Wait, what if THAT Amon was a ROBOT? Well? Her dad's a good mechanic, and THAT would explain how Amon was resistant to the bloodbending. The slowing down part of it, though, was Tarrlok bending the OIL in the robot, not any actual blood.

I have heard of the robot theory,but there's a few key issues with it.Why would a robot be the leader of the equalist's instead of just a weapon?Why not make more?Why didn't the robot come and help its creator Sato?And most importantly,how did sato design this robot to take away bending?From the flashbacks we learned that the "new" energybending used by aang is exactly like amons,so we have no real reason to believe hes faking it.Doesn't one require a spirt and energy to energybend?

Well, I kinda meant it in the sense that Asami was the REAL leader, but Amon-bot was just there to provide a reasonable alibi. Secondly, no one SAID that Tarrlok got his bending taken. Probably did, which would ruin my entire argument, but... well, what if he just got knocked unconscious? And about why not make more, maybe it's because the science was too much, but they actually managed to make a soul FOR the robot, JUST for the purpose of the ability to energybend?

There is one thing i find VERY interesting..until this most recent episode(9) Korra has had no contact from any past avatar spirits nor has she entered the spirit world or been able to airbend. im thinking perhaps the reason she cant enter the spirit world or airbend is because possibly aang is still alive somehow. I know people would automatically assume i know nothing about the avatar cycle and how it works but i do understand that in order for Korra to exist Aang would have to be dead. The only thing I can possibly think of to back up the fact that Aang would still be kickin' is when Azula shot Aang with lightning and "killed" him perhaps it screwed up the cycle where Korra was given the ability to bend Fire Water and Earth but not Air. Also something with the spiritual side has to be awry as well. Korra has been in life threatening situations now countless times and no avatar state. something just doesnt add up. idk just my thoughts but i really am anxious to see how they play this out in the end.

well,theres two problems with that.1. i dont think nick would let the creators cut up aangs corpse like some modern version of frankenstein and 2.i think that when the avatar dies all of his powers goes on to the next avatar right?So those powers would be gone from aangs body.
