Aang saved the Northern Water Tribe from destruction without being an immature whore, and at the end of his Avatar journey managed to defeat the Fire Nation and unite the world. Korra was already a master of three elements, had considerable fighting experience/training and still managed to get her ass handed to her constantly.

Aang didn't have to fight bloodbenders. He'd have had his ass handed to him a lot too if he didn't rely on Avatar state. Korra never used hers, whereas any time Aang came up against someone somewhat tough, he had to resort to Avatar state in order to win.

Aang also didn't "master the elements" as did Korra. He wasn't a master of any but air, even at the end of the series. Sure, there's an age difference, and I'm sure Aang mastered all 4 by the time he was 17, but they were in different circumstances.

They were scheduled to have the entire story arc fit within 14 episodes, they weren't scheduled to have more until the story was written. Would you rather they had decided to make an entire series with no conclusion?

They've already planned for a season 3 as well, so its not happening unless people absolutely hate season 2.

They only planned on having the first 14 episodes. They had ideas for more, but wrote LoK expecting to have a full conclusion by the end of book 1.

This is incorrect. The fortuneteller told her that she will pass away quietly after having her third GREAT grandchild.
So far we haven't seen any sign of great grandchildren. Jinora (which at the moment is the oldest grandchild is only 10 years old at the time, and won't probably reproduce before at least 10 years) . Because of this, I wouldn't be surprised to see Katara live to be at least 100 (she is 85 in the first season of LoK).

Remember that Tenzin is the youngest of Katara's three kids.
Katara is in her eighties. Tenzin is 40-50. That means Bumi must be around 60 years old, which is definitely old enough to have grandchildren. Also we don't know anything about Katara's daughter, Kya. She could also have adult children.
