I have a question ....how is katara still alive? Is it due to her healing abilities that come with water bending? I mean soka was only a couple of years older and toph was younger. Also wasn't appa the last sky bison?

Katara is alive because Katara is lucky. Some people live longer.
Bison are existent because Aang located a herd of them.

after the war ended Aang found a lone heard of sky bison that survived the firebender onslaught and were able to stay alive.

Conspiricy theory time.
At the end of Book 2 in the original series, Aang was killed by a lightning strike from Azula which caused Amon to be born as the new avatar since Aang died. However, Katara revived Aang with the water from the Spirit Oasis and he was all good as new. This caused Amon to lose his ability to bend the elements, but he was still connected to the avatar spirit and had the spiritual side that Korra does not. This explains why Korra does not get the spiritual side of being an avatar and how Amon actually was able to communicate with the spirits to learn energybending.

That's mean Amon is over 70, which is a no-no. There are a lot of theories going around that Amon is just using a more potent Chi-Blocking technique, as what he does and what Aang did to take away bending are different.

He touched the neck as well, which is the source of bending, it has been said that it can be closed by anxiety/fear, so it could be a mental block

But Aang still had his spiritual side when he was revived so would't that automatically mean that Amon would've lost that too according to your explanation? i'm really curious about the outcome can't wait to get answers...

I've seen this theory a lot of times. The main problem with it is that Aang was in his avatar state when he got killed and Roku told him that if he was killed in the avatar state, the cycle of the avatars would cease. It wasn't until Aang fought Ozai that the cycle of Avatars returned. But its a really interesting theory and I can't wait to find out who Amon is.


Also, I can't wait till Korra goes into the avatar state or talks to adult Aang, i'm so excited about this new series.

He wasn't in the avatar state... You glow just before entering the avatarstate as well as when you are in hit.. He was about to be in the avatar state but azula shot him down just before he unblocked his final chakra.

He'd be 70 on the dot because this takes place 70 years after the main series and the end of the earth book is only a few months before the end of the fire book. And why not.. Bumi was 112 and he was a badass.

Impossible. Aang was in the avatar state when killed by Azula. meaning the avatar cycle would stop and no new avatar would be born. Avatar Roku himself said if killed while in the avatar state the cycle will cease to exist. And that would also put Amon at over 70 years old.

I think Amon is either Bumi or Kaya (probably Bumi) one of Aang's son's who were born without bending powers for some reason.

he did sort of fight ozai during the eclipse but he just yelled at him until the eclipse ended and then redirected some lightning and ran away. you could also kind of count the agni kai (however it's spelled) from the very beginning.
