People calling Aang a bad father just because Tenzin was the favorite. Try to think of it from Aang's perspective. He's had 3 children, and only ONE was an airbender. He had to instill all of the airbending techniques and nomad morals into his only airbending child. Tenzin now has the responsibility of keeping the Air race alive and instilling the same morals and values into his future children/grandchildren. If Aang never had Tenzin, Aang would have literally been the last airbender, and the avatar cycle would have been ruined forever

The only thing that Tenzin could have learned that the other two children could not was actual airbending. Aang was a bad father. He was. He had an obvious favorite he doted on and two other children he essentially just gave to Katara and said " **** it, you raise them."

He was perfectly capable of teaching the other two children about Air Nomad culture because guess what? Not everyone in the Air Nomads could airbend, not everyone in the Earth Kingdom could earthbend, and last I checked there were quite a few people in the Water Tribes who couldn't waterbend and yet still knew a damn bit of their culture.

Aang CHOSE not to teach his non-airbending children and if it was really REALLY so important to him to carry on and repopulate airbenders in the world he wouldn't have gotten married and instead would have had as many children as possible.

Maybe aang gave them the choice to follow the Air nomad culture to his Two nonbending children but made it more pressing for his bending son.

The life of an Air Nomad is strict and disciplined from what I remember from The Last Airbender so he probably decided that his children didnt have to follow that culture unless it was very necessary. Tenzin followed the Air Nomad culture because thats how Aang learned how to Air-Bend. Kya and Bumi did not follow the culture because Having Non-benders follow such a strict life was not necessary.

Except the Lion Turtle probably would revoke his earlier vow in order to maintain balance

OR

The next avatar could easily have an Airbending child.

>Aang is the last airbending avatar, the cycle will be broken
>the NEXT avatar could have an airbender
>who is going to teach him to airbend?

Air Acolytes

That's kind of their job

But they cannot air bend. That would be like someone giving you parental advice when they don't have any kids themselves

The Air acolytes are just plain monks

But lot's of people do that sort of thing

Psychiatrists gives advice about mental problems, even though most of the time, they don't suffer from them
Priests/Ministers/etc give marital advice, often they aren't married
How many teachers are there without any of their own kids?
A doctor gives advice on how to lose weight, even though they never had to do such

an airbender can only be born of an airbender; the avatar's powers are sealed within ravva, and so they can only give birth to people from their native nation or their spouse's native nation or a non-bender. Every air-bender will either be a descendant of aang and by extension, tenzin.

it just doesnt make sense trying to teach someone how to do something when you can't do it yourself.
