in a way yes, in another way they were telling him that he just needed to be confident in his actions and do whatever happened to be best for the world, regardless of how he felt about it. in the end that meant taking his bending with awesome ass spirit bending **** instead of killing

They kind of did, yes, but no arguments that would work in our world. I don't support the death penalty law for many reasons, but if there were some magical phsyco with supernatural powers causing chaos we would have no other choice than to kill this person to remove the threat. Unless, we too were somehow able to take away his powers.

Well the world is equally protected by putting criminals in prison. Now, if you live in the Batman universe where crazy super villains escape every weekend and kill hundreds and you don't just deem them beyond redemption and kill them... then yes Batman is a pussy and a murderer by proxy.

They did.
And he still chose not to kill.

How'bout that.

Because he sorta broke physics and created the ability to take a person's bending away.

Sure I'm in favor of the death penalty, but not if it costs more to put him down than it does it feed and cloth him in prison for the rest of our life. Bring back the firing squads, give the Privates a live target to fire at before sending them into action, he's s serial rapist-murderer, we don't need to treat him like a beloved family pet, I've heard all kinds of estimates for the cost of the lethal cocktail used, but I'm sure it cost a Hell of a lot more than a handful of 5.56s
I know that isn't a 5.56, its just the first thing a saw in my reaction folder

I think that sometimes it might be necessary to kill off people, but in the show they didn't even kill the evilest guy in existence. They just rehabilitated him.
So, maybe just make prisons more like "hey man you ****** up, so here's how to not **** up" and less like "you ****** up, now bend over and get sodomized"

/but that's none of my business/

I thought the point was that all four of those tied into the final fight, like when he had the opportunity to kill the fire lord with lightning but decided not to.

Death penalty is a good thing and I fully support it. Don't want to go into detail about my beliefs unless someone asks. Don't want a tl;dr response.

How are folks today? Good I hope?

So, you are saying that the point in the show where they were trying to figure out how to stop the firelord, someone who would break out of any jail and only harm more people, the show made a good case for the death penalty? Gee I wonder why.

well yes, but not without also showing that there's always another way

the most impossibly powerful and useful philosophy i've found in life is that, when given two seemingly polar opposite choices, always pick the third

These lines of wisdom doesn't necessarily promote the death penalty. he still used their advice in the decision to have him disarmed and incarcerated
