(the internet fucked me up though not gonna lie haha)
and yep, I've seen 'em. My brother is still in high school and he's 16. most of those girls look older than i do O:

aquamarch (08/08/2012) [-] It's basically the second year of high school for us Americans. Our high schools have four years:
year 1. Freshman
year 2. Sophomore
year 3: Junior
Year 4: Senior
(I know, it's weird)
I had a lady tell me I looked 14, and I was about to say that maybe it's because everyone else looks like a street walker
(it's also because it's genetic, my mother is 40 and people ask her if she's my sister but that's beside the point)

brits get primary (elementary i guess) years 1-6 then in high its years 7-11

Sophomore is basically year 10.
The schools here go up to 12 years (ugh), and the ones I went to had the school system divided this way:
Elementary: Kindergarten - 5th (in some places it's 'til 6th grade)
Middle school (some places call it junior high): 6-8 (in some places it's 7-9)
High school: most places its 9-12 but few are 10-12
I blame it on #SWAG and YOLO. Drake is possibly the worst role model ever. He probably didn't do it on purpose but I mean come on.
And yeah, I used to get annoyed but now I think it's an advantage in a way haha :)
