I think the leader of the Equalists was granted the spiritual side of the avatar powers since Korra hasn't seem to unlock them yet and they specifically say that the avatar is the only person who has ever possessed the power to take away bending. So the avatar is Half Korra half Equalists leader. Also leader guy says he was born with the power to take away bending (he calls it his "gift") .
I'm willing to bet money that this is what we will find out near the end of the season.

But the leader says during the revelation that his parents were killed by a fire bender. Also he said that his parents own a farm. So Bumi can not be the leader of the anti-bending rebellion due to aang and katara not dying from fire benders and katara is still alive. I may have misunderstood what you were saying and sorry if I did. Just wanted to state some things.

Well all i remembered was his father was killed by a fire bender and they never specified how aang died, and he is the avatar he could own a farm for all we know. But who knows i guess we'll find out later in the series. It was just my first thought about who.

Ya know thats a good question. Im not sure since she only needs to master one element, but the oncoming revolution could take a while.

it definitely wont get cancelled because of the large fanbase, i just hope they dont run out of ideas
