I've finally come to the realization that FJ wants Bolin with Korra so much because they feel that they are the "Bolin" of the world, so to speak. Going back to when FJ users whined about the friendzone so much, this is exactly what they complained about. They played the "nice guy" role with the hot chick, and expected her to love them in return.
FJ users like this, you really need to understand this concept. Women will like who they like, and no matter how frustrating it is, and no matter how hard you try to make them fall in love with you, sometimes it just isn't going to happen.
Mako and Korra is just another case of this. Even though Mako was a bit of a dick, She is attracted to him. There's nothing anyone can really do to stop that.
FJ users like this, you really need to understand this concept. Women will like who they like, and no matter how frustrating it is, and no matter how hard you try to make them fall in love with you, sometimes it just isn't going to happen.

Nope, I refuse to give up on Borra, Bollin is WAY too awesome to not get the girl in the end. I really hope that in season 2 Korra realizes how much of an asshole Mako is.

Besides the fact that Mako is a piece of trash, this whole relationship is just bad writing. It's blatantly contrived. There's no development there (which is obvious, since neither Korra nor Mako got very much character development separately anyways), and that kiss was thrown in our faces. There was no chemistry there. At all.
They shouldn't have even included romance in the first season. It spans over...what...a month? How could they be in love if they've barely known each other that long? Plus, they took a whole episode to focus on the romance (The Spirit of Competition) when they could've taken that time to show Korra training airbending and meditating. That way we could've seen some character development.
I'm just sayin'.
