**theawesomeguy rolled a random image posted in comment #5799673 at FJ Pony Thread ** If I was a bloodbender, I would make everyone have boners 24/7

For the last time: Earthbenders bend the impurities in steel not the the steel itself.
They can't bend Platinum, because it's too pure and has almost no minerals in it left.
They can't bend iron and therefor not blood. And even if they could bend iron. Have you ever seen a hemoglobin molecule? The iron part of blood is so tiny it's negligible

Metal benders don't bend metal itself.
What they do bend is the "earth element" impurities within the metal, and as a result the metal itself. That's why they can't bend purified titanium in the show, because apparently there are no earth impurities in it.

It's the same with blood bending. Blood benders don't bend blood in general, they only bend the water within it (82% of blood) and as a result the blood bends as well.

So as far as we can tell about the Avatar world, there is no "earth element" inside the iron within the blood, so no. Metal benders cannot blood bend.

Unless you have kidney stones, but that's another story.

NO FOR FUCKS SAKE. METAL BENDERS DON'T BEND METAL, THEY BEND THE EARTH IMPURITIES INSIDE METAL. STOP FUCKING POSTING THIS.

metalbenders use the earth impurity in metal to bend it but the more refined the metal like platnum than bending cant be done :)

No, because they bend the earth in the metal. Not the other way around.

Metal benders can't bend metal. They find the impurities in the metal and bent that, shaping the whole piece of metal. That's why they can't bend pure metals like platinum.

NO. I can't believe how often we have to explain this crap.

No. It's not the metal they bend, it's the inpurities.
Which is why purer metals like Titanium cannot be bent.

No, they don't actually bend metal. They bend the impurities found there. So if it is pure iron then not even Toph could bend it.

I'm guessing no, for the same reason you don't see waterbenders airbending. Just not enough element density in the medium.

Metal Benders bend the ammount of "pure" rock that is left over in refined metal.
They can't bend any pure metal, which is why they can't bend the platinum bots.
Ironically, metal is refined from rock/ore IRL so it would make more sense to bend pure metal.

Fuck Yeah! Blood Bending !

Just to clear this up:

Earth benders can bend metal because of the earth in the metal because it's not pure. This is discovered when they all go underground and are attacked by people in platinum armour, noting that it was pure and no earth bender can bend it.

Hence because there is only metal in the blood and no earth they can't bend it.

People still believe this theory?

probably not but i bet they could do that thing that magneto did in Xmen where the guards tore out his iron killed him and used the iron for a weapon and stepping stones

Nope. Afraid not.

*Spoilers below*

Metal benders are merely Earth benders who are able to detect the earth impurities in a metal and manipulate them at will. This was first shown when Toph 'single handedly developed' metal-bending after being captured in TLA.

Metals like platinum, in the show, are rather close to pure, thus the reason the Equalists are trying to use platinum mechas against benders and why Korra was trapped inside a platinum box for the best part of one episode.

So, in short, no. It would be awesome, but if it where that easy, there would be a LOT more blood-benders in the world.
