I never liked Avatar or anything related to it

I actually wonder if she could make anyone a bender in this way. That's an interesting thought, theoretically if you go back far enough everyone in the bending world probably has at least one bending ancestor so I wonder if she could unlock some latent powers. Probably not but it would be cool.

Im sorry if this post gets kinda long, but there are three ways to look at this: 1. Its a natural inborn talent some people have, such as singing, in which case Korra isnt able to bestow bending on a non-bender any better than a singing coach could teach someone with no voice to sing. 2. Its genetic, and therefor the potential to bend could lie in pretty much anyone in the avatar world, since the prevalence of benders almost garunteees everyone has at least one bending ancestor, giving Korra the ability to give everyone (in theory) the ability to bend. 3. Bending requires a physical and spiritual side, which is confirmed by both A:TLA and TLOK, as Aang learns from the Lion Turtle that bending originated as the people bending their spirit, or "Chi", and Korra is unable to air bend due to her having very little connection with the spiritual side of bending, but is able to bend the other three quite well due to being a prodigy with the physical side. In this case, we can assume the physical side can be trained like any other physical ability, such as weight lifting, so all that would be needed is the spiritual side, which as the avatar Korra can easily provide. I find 3 the most likely out of the three options, as its the only one that is confirmed in any way by the series, in which case the only reason Korra couldn't give non-benders the ability to bend would either be due to the fact she isnt good enough at spirit bending yet (which considering the second book is going to be called "Spirit" might be the case) or the writers simply dont wish her to have the ability.

why not restore the air benders by converting people

It would be really awesome if she could give every non-bender the ability to bend if they wanted to. I mean, it really would suck to be surrounded by people with these incredible abilities and not be able to do it, too.

i think that the next season will be built apon this, giving all people the power to bend and not leaving someone left out. hell, if someone is a non bender and had airbender ancestry, we may have more airbenders

i thought the origin of benders was learning to control chi by observing animals (or the moon in the case of water-bending) so are there people who learn bending easier than others and the "non-benders" find it difficult/impossible to control their chi or are they just born completely without the ability? and is the avatar the only person capable of spirit bending since the lion-turtle who taught him said that before elemental bending everyone bent spirits instead so couldn't anyone learn how? And is it possible to give bending to nonbenders by bending their spirit into some way that lets them bend? also in the end of ATLA he says that he can never get his bending back does that mean it's irreversible or was he just saying that he would never give them back to him?
