Season 2 Chapter 20 was one of the most dramatic masterpieces in the past decade, and it was on a kids show.

A 112 year old was killed in his most powerful form available, then, while dead, picked up by his 16 year old companion, who then brought him back to life and was only just about able to continue a cycle of balance.

But it still doesn't don Azula's demise, probably my favourite fight/arc/chapter or whatever you want to call it.

Don't forget that Aang was 'killed' in the Avatar state. If Katara had failed to revive him, he would have been the very last Avatar.
