But Zuko is a firebender and Amon isn't. All Amon has is that "take-away-bending" power... O-o

I almost kind of doubt anyone from the first series is going to be Amon. For starters, aang was pretttty much the youngest person in the last series and he died of old age and everyone else is probably old so anyone who DID survive that long wouldn't be very strong physically.
someone stated a theory before that could counteract this in that he might be part machine, like a cyborg kind of sorta like combustion man but more for prolonging his life like darth vader kind of thing.
In that case there's a freaking SHOPPING list of people who might be Amon.
Firelord Ozai: He has the motive, and the training physically. PLUS he was exposed to the technique Aang used to take away bending. the story of his parents being killed by firebenders and him being left with scars was a commonplace story that he had seen would earn sympathy in the past and it would give him an excuse to hide his face, plus we don't really know what became of him after ATLA.
Jet: He was borderline insane... errr full insane last we saw him, he has the martial training AND his parents were killed by firebenders. he certainly has the motivation and it wouldn't be to much of a stretch for him to have been scarred by fire benders.
I... I can't actually think of any nonbenders beyond that who would really have the kind of motivation to hold a grudge for over 50 years against EVERYBODY. I mean.... I guess there's the chick that zuko didn't end up with. the earth nation chick... the one who's name I forget... I guess SHE could've but she was a she and she seemed so nice...
But aside from that major characters from ATLA are iffy under the assumption that amon lied or exaggerated his past to his followers and down right impossible if he didn't.
