How do you know that?
Is it from guts or did someone tell it?
if they did i need to rewatch the episode....

You see, one can only achieve avatar state when they have not only gained the ability to use all elements, but have connected to the spirit world. When Aang restored Korra's bending, she was not only now in control of all four elements (since she gained air bending immediately after she lost the others), but has interacted completely with the spirit world. The only part that confuses me is how easily Aang used to connect with the spirit world. I'm assuming it was his constant meditation, and the fact that even though he didn't fire bend, he knew how to. Which again is why he never really went full avatar until the last episode. You can also see that, on the last Avatar: The Last Airbender episode, when he mastered fire, he could access all elements AND had the power to take away/return bending. Which shows us that, when korra had the ability to use all elements effectively ("mastered") and return bending to beifong, she was indeed in avatar state.


So, all 4 elements returned to her + connecting to the previous avatars = avatar state.
