If you really think about it, it's pretty obvious that Amon is Slade from Teen Titans.

Amon is a child of Ty Lee. Reasonings:
1. Ty Lee was the only person that could do chi-blocking in the first Avatar
2. Ty Lee was not a bender, just a skilled gymnast.
3. Amon was supposedly the one who revealed chi-blocking to LoK, even though Ty Lee chi-blocked multiple times in The Last Airbender.
4. Amon's family was killed by firebenders. It is plausible that Ty Lee could have been killed by them.

-If it isn't on of Ty Lee's children, it has to be momo.
