Because it affect your life so much that those words are on money. Honestly most Atheists I know are much more annoying then the pushiest Christians i'v met.

ohh and another thing Luidias, i am in no way attempting to troll just well i guess anger people. I'm just commenting my opinion, as everyone here is doing. and i felt the need to share that i thought how angry everyone seems to be is quite funny.

i meant exactly what i said, so to reiturate i will say it again. how does it affect your life? it's 4 damn words? who cares? why do athiests and anyone who doesn't belive in religion get so angry and even a tiny mention of religion? Mots Athiests seem to have no problem jumping on someone who quietly practice religion, yet they complain about pushy Christians? I'v asked this to other atheists and they can never give me an answer. Why does a persons belief in a religion, assuming they keep it to themselves as they should, bother you? If it makes them at least try to be a good person whether it be by how they act or donations maybe or anything...why do you care? Similar questions can be throw to Christians about why they care so much about gay marriage? why do they care what people do in their own time? People get so upset about religion from both sides of the fence, just don't talk about it and people wont have to argue. Also to point at Luidas specifically, how is you saying why I commented originally stupid any different then Christians saying negative things about non believers or whatever the hell people get angry about? i commented my opinion on the subject, as i am doing again now. All the resulting commentors were seemingly quite upset and to me that's pretty damn funny.

listen, I understand that both sides have hipocritical dickbags among their ranks. humans are stupid dicks, there's no avoiding that. and you're right to be annoyed by it.

in response to your original comment, the 'four little words' matter specifically BECAUSE it suggests a religion-based nation. In truth, those four words AREN'T just four words. they are EVERYWHERE. anytime you use money, there it is. It's a constant reminder that religion has its grasp on such a fundamental, iconic part of american culture.

tl;dr, physically, they're just four little words, but they carry a much more significant meaning by being on the nation's legal tender.

but seriously now, why do we need "in god we trust" on our money? what's the purpose of that? i dont believe in god why would i need that.

the purpose is that during the cold war the government wanted to prevent the spread of communism to the US, they believed that the best way to do this would to promote strong family values which they believed to be derived mainly from the christian religion

You're right, you don't need it. But America was born as a christian nation whether that was on the dollar or not. Thats just the way things are. Deal with it.

We were born a slavery nation too, luckily some people are intelligent and we can change for the better. :)

Pretty sure they were very specific about the foundations of the state being totally separate from the church.

just because there's a lot of christians there, there's no need for that on our money.. so by that logic, when i buy a car, do i have to have a big cross over the fucking windshield just because 75% of people in america are christians? if im not religious, you dont have to slam religion in my nose, if believers want respect, then you better start respect nonbelievers..

Thomas Jefferson and Thomas Paine, Deist. George Washington, Protestant. Ben Franklin, anti-clerical. John Adams, Unitarian. James Madison, Diest.

Yes, this nation was clearly made for the soul purpose of following a single religion.
