The Bible was written, and then rewritten,

receipted, and then mistranslated, then given
to kings for them to take their favorite parts
out, then receipted, then mistranslated, and
then receipted, then given to the pope for
him to approve, then , then
then , then prewritten, receipted,
mistranslated, receipted again, all based on
stories that were told orally thirty to ninety
years after they happened to people who
didn’ t know how to write. so I guess what I' m
saying is the bible is literally the worms
oldest game of telephone."

Never understand why people insist that the bible is the exact and precise word of God when even the damn cover says King James version

What if somehow we manage NOT to have a shitstorm over this?
Think about it, how amazing that would be if for once everyone keeps there opinions to themselves and theres no arguing and ranting and religous/atheist blather?!

This is the most ignorant quote I've ever read. I'll go ahead and give you the numbers. There are roughly 200,000 word changes in the BIble. That seems like a lot when you keep just that number in play. But when you take into consideration that there are over 20,000 manuscripts for the Bible. This equals around 10 changes per manuscript which is incredibly small compared to any ancient manuscript. In fact, it is the FEWEST. Most of those changes are like changing the world Jehovah to Lord. And adding worlds like "the" and minor connecting words. Also the majority of changes are changing phrases that don't make sense today like "Love the lord from the depths of your bowels." Loving the lord from the depths of your bowels phrase would make no sense today. So it has been changed to "Love the Lord with all your heart." Those are the minor types of changes that occur throughout the history of the Bible. To show the accuracy of the writings. Look up the "Dead Sea Scrolls" Those are some of the oldest known manuscripts available and they match the current manuscripts today almost word for word! So how about next time you do some research before you post B.S. I'm a Christian and I don't care if you believe the same as I do or you don't believe what I do. I respect your beliefs and your right to have them. But I can and will defend my belief when it is called out.

tl;dr Do some research before you start spewing bull shit.

Imagine a king, the ruler of the universe, is locked inside a room. god

Only a handful of people can see him, and must survey his message to the outside world. priests

How do you know the men speak the words of the king?

Did anyone else get so caught up reading the shitstorm that they forgot what the actual post was. I did and when I took a another look at the content I realized that there shouldn't be a shitstorm at all on this matter. It's not particularly insulting nor is it overly preachy for one side or another.

Why can't we all just look at the post and thumb it accordingly. If you don't like it thumb it down and move along. If you like it thumb up and move along. It's not the content that causes shitstorms is overly-uptight people getting butthurt over little things.

It's actually not that complicated.
The disciples were the primary source, their students wrote a ton of gospels. Then several of the gospels were compiled along with previous established texts into the Bible.
