The one major thing that I don't understand about Christianity: Why the hell are the descendants of Adam and Eve punished for what Adam and Eve did? I mean, if someone commits a crime, their kids don't go to prison for it. Why should the son be punished for the sins of the father? Why? Every answer so far that I've gotten to this question sums up to "Because it's like that," but nobody actually has a reason that a supposedly merciful God would condemn successors for the actions of who came before them.
Either God is not merciful, or the first Vatican royally ****** up the Bible and we are all pure from the start, but it's our actions later that take us away. Maybe that's why only adults were being baptized by John...

To put you in situation where you are instantly guilty and instantly your parents should start paying for your "salvation". They don't bother waiting for you to do something bad.

I really don't know which stance to approach this from, are you an atheist or a theist? Better yet do you believe in god, if anything other than yes then you are an atheist. Sorry I just really want to avoid and get past that whole "agnosticism is a belief" argument that usually takes up more time than it's worth.

Anyways, I will approach this as if you are an atheist. The bible approaches the idea of original sin in the new testament, now this can be explained that god punished them for gaining the knowledge of good and evil against his wishes, and essentially every human afterwards is damned for also having this knowledge ingrained into us. It all falls apart when you simply ask why god made the tree in the first place is he knew eve would eat from it, and the only answer is "Meh.....gods will bro"

The non-religious reasoning seems more likely that they realized it was better to tell people they are damned from the beginning, and the only salvation was to believe this specific religion or else. Hence why the new testament is the origination of hell and original sin.

I have one problem with God's problem with Adam and Eve's fruit problem:

If neither Adam or Eve had any knowledge on morals, ethics and good and evil, how could they possibly be expected to obey and do good, if they don't even know how to obey or know what good is?

I mean, God must have known this, right? He must have known that Adam and Eve could not obey because they simply didn't know how to, so then why is every single person in the world punished for something 2 people did thousands of years ago, that they couldn't have known not to do?

Well christianity specifically states that any sin is forgivable if you believe in Jesus Christ. So as long as they believe in JC they can chill with every charitable person, honest man, rapist, dictator, mass murderer, etc. that ever believed JC.

I am not an atheist, but I'm not religious either. I am spiritual, yet agnostic, I guess.

So it's more of a ploy to convert people? That seems directly in violation of what they are supposed to be teaching, which is love and acceptance.

Sigh it's not like I'm asking if you are a selfless person or a cannibalistic she-devil, I'm asking your belief right now, agnosticism means you don't know which many people rightly choose, but this only pertains to knowledge. I am an agnostic, I am also an atheist and an anti-theist. Each of these represents a different aspect towards religion/god. So if you do not fully believe there is a god, you are atheist, it's just a simple association of belief.

Well they really don't ever teach love and acceptance, this is the humanity in people reacting to empathy and trying to coincide their beliefs with these feelings. Very few religions preach these attributes specifically for the good of man, it's usually drawn from a selfish place of conversion. It always has been beneficial to control the masses whether for selfless or selfish reasons. Especially when you get these people to believe that what they think is right doesn't really matter and gods will extends over theirs. Hence why you find people acting in ways they don't agree with simply because they believe god said to.
