I don't really see a reason why bigamy should be an issue.

Polygamy can be a problem when widely practiced because the ratio of the sexes doesn't change to accommodate it. The natural tendency would be for men to have multiple wives and not vice versa (An established male can support multiple wives and their offspring. Women want security, so they're drawn towards the established male. Basically, except for complaints about the division of attention, it works. But two men with one woman? Why would either man want to be supporting the kids she has that aren't his? There's the high likelihood of economic imbalance where one man is bringing more to the relationship than the other, creating tension that the other is freeloading, and you have the problem in that you're dividing the sex with a woman when it's man's natural desire to multiply it.)

So, with polygamy, you end up with the older men getting most of the women, even going so far as to create a power structure whereby they monopolize the power among themselves and thus access to the nubile young women. The young men of the society are marginalized by their own fathers and left without any women.
Young men with raging hormones without a relationship and without any sexual or economic prospects don't tend to be the most stable of folks.

Read up on the history of Mormonism. Polygamy? Great if you're a church leader: you trade your young daughters off to other church leaders and get their teenage daughters in return. But not so great if you're one of the older wives now neglected and forgotten in favor of the new tart, and not so great if you're a young man with no horny young girls left for you.

I just hope that legal viewing of child pornography becomes legal following the legalization of gay marriage.

I wonder if in a few generations, we'll be the "out-of-touch bigots" for being against people marrying inanimate objects.
Not using to slippery slope argument, nothing against gay marriage, just looking at it objectively

I've been saying this myself for a while, the slippery slope argument is far too often used.

What's wrong with bigamy? If a guy can afford more than one wife, why shouldn't he be able too?
#41 to #37 - Lambda ONLINE (05/25/2013) [-]
Who the hell would want more than one wife?

I think the black/white one wasn't really christians as much as the south as a whole

The funniest part is that incest is already legal, including marraige between cousins.

But you don't see anyone crying about that, even though they're pretty much ******** in the gene pool

I think it's because there are no incest marriage bandwagon.

You see, gay marriage topic just went very popular in the end of 2012, after that one state in America start debating about legalizing the gay marriage and the media spread up, even tho there are some states that already legalized gay marriage. Nobody cares with gay marriage until that time.

Ok, quick question. Where do we draw the line between infanticide and abortion? Is it when the child is born or what? The reason I am asking is because if someone kills a pregnant female, no matter what stage they are at in their pregnancy, the murderer is charged with two accounts of murder.

It's up until I believe the second trimester, the fetus is just a collection of cells that have the potential to become something alive, like a seed to a tree.

I don't think I've once used the slippery slope argument in regards to being against abortion. You don't really need to make that argument anyway.

If you think about it, is there really anything wrong with incest marriage, as long as no babies are made? I mean, love is love and if they love each other to marry, why not let them? Just make sure they don't have kids that aren't adopted (a snip may be necessary) and I don't see anything wrong with it.
User avatar #43 - spikethepony (05/25/2013) [-]
Except there are doctors currently being charged with infanticide....
But then again, people have been killing babies for a very ******* long time.
#36 - kevinlasvegas (05/25/2013) [-]
From my Christian point of view, I just don't care about this marriage stuff.

The slippery slope argument is actually a logical fallacy
#22 - anonymous (05/25/2013) [+] (5 replies)
Why is this under atheism? As Christian I think that dude is an asshole.
User avatar #15 - patrickmiller (05/25/2013) [+] (1 reply)

#21 to #15 - anonymous (05/25/2013) [-]
