I don't know how many times I have seen this damned picture. There is some truth in it, yet. There is even more complete bullshit in though. What always makes me shake my head in confusion is why some atheists insist that everyone else has to be an atheist, because some religious people want everyone else to be religious. Just take my god damned outlook on it and leave everyone to themselves for fuck sake. The real scientific breakthrough will come when someone actually comes up with a way to accurately graph scientific advancement without bull shitting it to try and make their own narrow minded point. Sure the leaders of nearly every religion out there killed people who didn't believe what they did. But have you heard of the Soviet Union? They did the same thing, but for believing in religion.

And if you are too fucking stupid to read this

Quit making these stupid arguments.

mfw when you're claiming the soviet union killed people in the name of atheism

No, not in the name of Atheism. I wasn't trying to say that, though I see how that is the interpretation. I didn't explain myself very well. What I was trying to say is that The Soviet Union, and Communism in general I believe, banned religion among other things. If you refused to follow the tenants that the Soviet Union espoused you would be "reeducated" at the least, and killed outright at the worst. They didn't do it in the name of anything but communism. My point was that they were the polar opposite of religious fanatics and yet they did the same thing that some of the hard core atheists use as the prime example of the evils of religion.

Religious-relating to or manifesting faithful devotion to an acknowledged ultimate reality or deity.

Fanatic-marked by excessive enthusiasm and often intense uncritical devotion.

Communists were faithfully devoted to ideals of communism. Communists were also very enthusiastic about working towards their ideals. They are hardly the polar opposite of religious fanatics.

Definitions of religious and fanatic from Merriam-Webster.

So, are you making the claim that Atheism is a religion? Because that would seem to be a little bit of an oxymoron. And I wasn't claiming that they were not fanatical. I was saying that they were the opposite of the religious fanatic.

Worded that first part badly. Saying that atheism is the religion that there is no religion, is an oxymoron.

I'm not making the claim that atheists act religious because of their atheism. I'm claiming that some communists can act in a religious way when trying to fulfill their ideals.

Oh! Okay, I wasn't making that connection! Thanks for the explanation!
