I agree with you 100%. The reason I'm so anti-religion is because of the amount it has hindered the world's progress. Yes, I won't hate on your belief as long as it's not affect anyone. But guess what, the fact is that religion you're believing regardless of whether you did it or not is persecuting large groups of people. Even putting aside the obvious faults in nearly every single one of the bible's "facts".
You may not have had anything to do with an anti-abortion rally. But thousands of Christians and other bible thumpers have been. They have put these young, and old, girls through hell because their "god" believes it's what is right.
You may not have gay-bashed anyone. But thousands of Christians and other bible thumpers have been. Most of anti-gay marriage and just anti-gay morals stem from religious beliefs. Do you think politicians would have as hard a time saying they're pro-gay marriage if it weren't for the religious people in America? Look at Obama, the first president to come out saying he's pro-gay marriage and he's been called a homosexual for doing so.
Religion has oppressed the advancement of knowledge and society as a whole, and if that's not enough for us atheists to stand up and say "FUCK YOU WE'RE DONE."

Well just look at what happens to an atheist as soon as we voice our opinion. We get persecuted....again. In ancient Rome if I were to stand out and say religion is wrong the church would kill me on the spot. So why is it okay looking in history for religion to stand out against me but I can't stand out against it?
Religion frustrates me so much because of this. The close mindedness of religious people is just baffling...even going against every shred of scientific evidence they still continue to believe god did it all. If people were to actually read the studies of say Stephen Hawking they'd understand why the concept of religion is just ludicrous.
I believe some things in religion but that's just me being a good person. Such as live and let live, love thy neighbor, ect. But I refuse to be subjected to the stupidity of blatantly false "facts" when the answer is staring you in the face.

And when Christians (or any religious group) voice their beliefs around atheists the same thing they are shunned from that person or people. Im not saying everyone is like that and I'm certainly not disagreeing with you, because I agree with some of your statement, but Im just saying it happens both ways.
This may be true on the internet but not in real life. Don't believe me? Go look at all the laws that are taboo because of religion.
Also, if I told you the Sun is a giant peanut M&M and you're wrong if you disprove me otherwise because the voice in my head told me so, would you not think I'm an idiot?

At the first statement: it does happen in real life I know several Atheists that do not talk to other people simply because of their beliefs, as far as the sun being a giant M&M that is a valid point however the fact that none knows how the universe was formed is slightly different from that in that since we went there we don't know the truth about the beginning of time so whatever people want to believe is fine by me, if someone said it was the result of the giant M&M sun in a different dimension exploding I would have no way to argue against that.
But why is the unknown put simply to magic? If you want to keep it to yourself about a belief that's fine, but religion as a whole does not do that. There is no way to stop religious persecution while keeping the sane religious people intact. If I passively agree with everything the Nazi party says, including it's antisemitism, I'm still persecuted even though I haven't personally murdered millions of Jewish people. Whilst I'm a "good" Nazi, I'm still a Nazi.
