Since when was punishing your kid abuse?

I agree with you, but I think it depends how bad the beating is. Like a few smacks or a belt whooping is fine, but I think the ad (although the child abuse people always take shit over the edge) is referring to people going all Bruce Lee on their kids ass. Like just straight up kicking their asses. The ad people believe "if they smack you, they might as have stabbed you" but it's really "You broke that vase, you get a beating."

my fucking thoughts exactly! my dad whipped my ass when i was bad and i know to behave and respect my elders. the kids i see today are fucking ridiculous! "but no! you can't hit them it'll damage them and they'll grow up with issues!" my fat hairy ass............. whipping your kid for misbehaving isn't abuse, it's correctional action. beating the fuck out of your kid is abuse.
KNOW
THE MOTHER FUCKING
DIFFERENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it kinda depends on the kid. My parents never hit me, but that's probably because I felt bad when they looked disappointed, and I learned from them telling me what's bad and what isn't.
Basically, yeah, some people deserve to get hit. Some really don't.
My aunt used to use belts on my cousin with ADHD when he wouldn't eat enough because his medication made him not want to eat. I always wanted to grab her hand and smack her with it. It made me so angry.

It's not ok to hit anyone, especially a child. My parents never laid a hand on me, and I still managed to grow up, a respectable, smart person. I've never understood why people think that hitting a child will make them behave. In my experience, it just teaches them to fear you, and it's acceptable to be physically violent with another person. And you are a prime example of that.

when you do it right in the first place, hitting/punishing is not necessary. good parents you got there bud.

ehhh, i agree, to an extent, if your punishment leaves a scar or any permanent marking (that doesn't mean use a phone book so you don't mark) its abuse, for example i've never seen the point in using a belt or other implement because that's assault. my father was beaten as a child, and he ended up hospitalizing his step-father several times in his later life and ended up as a drug dealer.

the problem with hitting your kids is some people have no self controll, they think that because some dude on the tv said it was ok to hit their kids now and then, they can whoop the shit out of them with a dumbell.

TL;DR: retards are allowed to breed, don't know how to parent.

well yeah that's what i meant when i said beating the fuck out of your kid. guess i should have specialized. as for using a belt, it's kind of the symbol for punishment. my dad used the belt on me twice. i learned fuckin QUICK!!!!! whenever i thought about doing something bad, i remembered the belt. bad juju

some people are different, physical punishment doesn't work on everyone, if my step-father had ever hit me with his hand, let alone a belt i probably would have broken his jaw. then again my step-father didn't move in until i was about 14.
my father was a very violent man, and he still never found the need to hit me. in-fact i can only recall him once raising his voice to me, and yet i didn't miss behave around him, in-fact i was probably better behaved around him than my mother who did give me the occasional spanking up-until i was about 5.
then again i wasn't a spoilt little shit like every other child in the world seems to be.

and there in lies the root of the problem. kids having kids, not ready for parenthood, kid ends up spoilt because the parents just appease the kid to make them stfu

some dude further down posted a massive comment about how if you need to hit your kids your doing it wrong, i cba to copy his whole rant but its very enlightening.
sometimes a child deserves punishing, i agree but if a motherfucker took my PS1 away when i was 6 i'd be far more upset than taking a slight beating, there's better ways to punish children, beating them almost seems like more of a vent for anger than a legit punishment, to me.
