I have been drawing this character for 3 days. Greyscale due to practicing values. While aplying colors I figure this was a total disaster and artwork need lots of tweaking. Practice makes perfect I guess.
**nfwar used "*roll picture*"** **nfwar rolled image**Design or shape was not a disaster. Point of this drawing was to practice values, levels of black and white. Trying to color this drawing would make it weird (material definition for example).
**mobilebull used "*roll picture*"** **mobilebull rolled image** I like the body but i ******* hate the face, sorry op, and no i cant do it better myself
**nfwar used "*roll picture*"** **nfwar rolled image**I cans disagree with you. After this picture was coming along just fine, I realised that her face is.. meh. Some of my friends told me "Eyes are too round and big". I was about to change her face compleatly so somehting else that I already made, but one of my friends just stop me. Blame him tbh c:
Love the sketch and the idea of the character, only complain would be it seems the head is a bit longish. Also as someone who is learning 3d modeling i'd love to try to make this character, with your permission of course, once i get better at organic modeling.
**rebornpotato used "*roll picture*"** **rebornpotato rolled image** Here is Shia for you, and that's awesome thanks! i'll have to definitely work on my abilities for that, and i will of course message you with results when i can do it.
I'm broke as **** atm, but when it evens out I'd be willing to give it a shot. Your style looks like it'd be really good for World of Warcraft or Warhammer 40k characters, or maybe Pathfinder. You've got that 'high detail, but just cartoonish enough to avoid the uncanny valley' look going on.
I drew this yesterday. I was messing around with the colors to try and figure out how to do proper shadows and highlights so a lot of the colors are really off.
It's an original character I've been working on for several months. He even appears in a short film I directed in, starring me as this character. Shameless self promotion there lol
Too dark. Try to draw on a darker background so you will have to brighten him up. Shading is not easy, simple objects can be shaded with no problem, but humans with lots of cloth, ow boy. A Challange.
For what's it worth I think the brightness is alright. It's a bit hard to see him at first (I guess that fits the character) but in 100% zoom it's easy enough to discern some details.
I uh, dont know. Never done comissions, but I am planing to start at some point soon. It all depends on what I am drawing and how you want me to do it (sketchy or rendered, background complexity).
Dont worry, even if its your first commission i doubt either of us will be disappointed, what can you add to the drawings and what are your limits to draw?
Main problem here is body proportions, like a lot of people here are already saying.
Limbs in general are way too thick - it makes the character look really short. The head is really ******* huge. It's like 3 times the size it should be (on a human at least). Arms go down way too far. The fingertips shouldn't be so close to the knees, or else it gives the feeling that the character is, once again, really short. Female chest is fine, although the breasts could be a bit higher up, especially since it looks to be a tight-fitting shirt. Legs should be longer on females (although if you make them less thick like I said above, then this can be mostly ignored). The face also looks really strange, mostly because the eyes are too big and the mouth is too small.
The stuff I've said above is based on my own understanding of human anatomy though, so take it as you will. Elves (your tag) should give off a feeling of being taller than regular humans though. Unless you mean the Lucky Charms kind of elves. Otherwise, really good stuff.
**nfwar used "*roll picture*"** **nfwar rolled image**Agree, proportions are not right for human or an elf. I was aiming for more of cartoony proportions. I also forgot one tag "cartoony". I really should have done it.
Looks a bit too serious to be cartoony to me. Too much greyscale plus it's really well detailed really nice job on that by the way , which puts it straight into uncanny valley because of the proportions.
My suggestion for practicing a cartoony style is to draw it as well as possible without erasing anything. That doesn't necessarily mean quick, though. Also, avoid accentuating the neck so much with such a large head - it makes her look like a giraffe. sorry i feel like im being super critical, but i really like what you got
I'm pretty sure all of that stuff about the proportions is intentional. She's not supposed to be human-sized. Much smaller than that. Also, as far as I'm aware this is also supposed to be a "cartoony" style drawing. I know the artist and he also does much more realistic art.
