I kind of got mad at Eren in this scene, but I guess I kind of understand.

since it's in a manga format, i read it as "spank that ass sweet"

Its so fucking bullshit filler.

In the manga, he goes flashback for like, 10 seconds, then busts into titan form, breaking Annies jaw with an uppercut from underground

none of this under the house dying crap.

It's called build up. I was frustrated while watching it but when Eren finally got so pissed off he turned into his Titan form out of rage and delivered the first punch in what I hope is (I don't read the manga) Annie's well deserved ass kicking, it felt oh so satisfying.

I still thought it was a bit ridiculous. It makes Eren out to be this angsty teenage shit rather then the badass titan slaughterer he is in the Manga.

Not to mention, it really underplays the fact that at this point in the series, he has a rough understanding of 'going titan'. The Anime plays it out that hes just as clueless as he was during the rock adventure.

The fight with Annie is where Eren starts to show the ability to somewhat control his titan form (better than before, that is) hence during the fight Mikasa and Armin tell him what to do and he responds. In the magna and the anime both, he was not able to do anything of the sort until then (if memory serves; correct me if I'm wrong)

Well, to be fair, I can sorta understand why Eren goes through the "angsty teenage bullshit"

(keep in mind, I only watch the show, not read the magna)
>His home was destroyed and he watched his mother die right before his eyes
>his dad is missing
>many of his squad-mates that he trained with died at the battle of Trost
> he suddenly learns that he has the power to turn into a titan and many people treat him like a monster and threaten to kill him over it plus the fact that he doesn't exactly know how to control it
>he just witnessed his squadmates get brutally murdered by the female titan and he now believes it was his fault for not trusting them instead of fighting.
>and the female titan turned out to be Annie, whom he believed to be his friend

So all in all, I think Eren is slightly justified in being kinda angsty

>badass titan slaughterer

He was just captured by Ryner and Bert. Captured again, I might add.

ryner has armor though which the average titan doesn't, it be like a human fighting another human in a full suit of armor. unarmored guy cant really win in a fist fight.
