I know a guy who keeps constantly saying "baka" and "kawaii" and sports his knowledge of visual novel games as if it was some nobel peace prize. When I call him an otaku, he finds it offensive. When I call him a weaboo, he doesn't give a **** . MFW.

"Stupid" in Japanese.

i thik it means idiot, or moron. something along those lines. hope i'm not wrong.

I love the word baka. Except that's the only Japanese word that I even use. I hate when people use honorifics and I loathe the word kawaii, despite loving cute animes.

>half Japanese, dad's an immigrant, actually know some Japanese
>go to school with **** ton of weaboos
>they find out I'm Japanese
>try to talk to me about how great the culture and everything about it is
>tell them I've been there, it's not that great
>mfw they try to "educate me on the greatness of my people"

"We know more about your own people then you do so we're gonna sit here for about an hour constantly giving you false information that we learned from your countries cartoons!" Does that sound about right?

Someone recently posted this on my high school's Anime Club Facebook page.
Everyone who liked it could be described as "the bad kind"...
User avatar #202 - tkfourtwoone (07/29/2012) [-]
Why do I get the feeling that 90% of the "bad anime fans" are girls?...

Thankfully my friends are in the good column. We talk about anime a lot, but we don't go overboard with it.

These people are the worst... when they do it all the time its unbearable, I avoid them at school and even at conventions even though many otherwise "good kind of" people will spaz a bit at the cons too. I will admit that I will do mild forms of a couple of the things youd expect the bad ones to do at cons if Im really excited or ****** around... but for ***** sake, do they not know manners or know how to be self aware and respectful. They make all of anime fans look bad.

true true. i am an anime fan and to be honest i am a little interested in their culture but the thing i am more interested in is the technology and the sites. i want to go to japan and just travel the up and down the country especially Okinawa =D
User avatar #417 to #32 - XxXRoxasXxX (07/29/2012) [-]
That's my problem with it. I could never live i Japan, but I'd love to visit it.
User avatar #63 to #32 - goll ONLINE (07/29/2012) [-]
i like it because their technology is amazing, their history is pretty damn cool, and their faults for the most part are hilarious
#40 to #32 - hewenttojareds (07/29/2012) [-]
Japan is the only place i know where they're old fashion and rich in culture yet have advance technology, i like Japan sure its sometimes racist and has its faults but dosent everyone?
User avatar #45 to #40 - mexeuphemism (07/29/2012) [-]
I agree, every culture has it's faults, and Japan is no exception, but I hate hearing a lot of bad anime fans go on about how the Japanese culture is the perfect culture.

I personal hate their social culture, but I love their ability to adapt to technology, their food, their medical system (kinda), and their art.
User avatar #46 to #45 - hewenttojareds (07/29/2012) [-]
that i understand i hate Weeaboo's the most i have seen so many girls (and one black guy) trying to act Japanese i remember complementing one of thems bracelets because it had a cool design and she replied back with "REALLY? IT COST ME 400 YEN" and that was when i knew i would hate my middle school life
#116 to #46 - twilightdusk (07/29/2012) [-]
400 YEN = $4. She's so proud of that bracelet she got from the bargain bin.

It makes you mad for the same reason it makes me mad. you shouldn't honor a character in a show, they aren't people

I hate ****** translators that use honourifics in the subtitles. The only thing worse is when they don't translate simple words like "baka" and then just have a translator's note at the top for it once.

Best way to piss off the bad ones is to tell them "Akira wasn't that good," even if they've never seen it they'll defend that thing like it was a ******* religion.

i'm not really a missive anime fan, but the Manga and the film were both brilliant dude.

dammit your plans working
User avatar #419 to #413 - thisotherdude (07/29/2012) [-]
It was a bit overrated in my opinion, I'll admit the animation was fantastic, I've never seen anything to moved so fluidly and looked so good (hell, they even had lip syncing to what the characters actually said rather then the typical one shape mouth movement that just seems to randomly wave around like a dying fish) but if you haven't read the manga then the plot made almost no sense, and you should have to read the manga to understand the film, maybe if they made it into a show they'd be able to fit everything in but they tried to cram the manga (keep in mind I've never read it) in a measly two hours and thus it just ended as a jumbled mess.
#457 to #419 - John Cena (07/29/2012) [-]
I'd have to disagree. Bearing in mind Katusriho Otomo also wrote, directed and produced the movie, I thought it was a really good adaptation. Obviously he couldn't fit his whole manga into a movie (and a series would have been much better) but by switching around aspects of the story it worked out fine. It's meant to be an alternate version. You don't need to read the manga to understand it all, as the manga is much more in depth and features alot more characters. The movie isn't really crammed at all - if anything it felt a little shallow to me. The lack of characters like Miyako or Joker, or the fact Tetsuo's new Tokyo Empire wasn't featured at all disappointed me, but the movie was a great reshuffling of the story I found
User avatar #425 to #419 - turtlepoop (07/29/2012) [-]
right i only read the first manga but i swear Akira was actually alive in it, like he came out of the freezy thing at the end and he was a little boy. And tetsuo became the leader of the clowns or somit lmao, film missed so much out
User avatar #430 to #425 - thisotherdude (07/29/2012) [-]
Only thing I really understood was:

"KANEDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"TETSUO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
User avatar #444 to #430 - turtlepoop (07/29/2012) [-]
80% of the movie was "TETSUOOOOOOO"
