Basically it's an anime about a former samurai in his mid twenties and his chird rabor force he has 16 year old boy and a 14 year old girl working for him doing freelancer work removing beehives, petsitting, etc and getting into hijinks. A lot of the humor is pretty low brow but done in a way that it actually holds up pretty well.
No, actually. It's just the law regarding parodies that says you can parody whatever you want, under certain conditions, but you don't need permission from the owners of what you're parodying (I'm not sure about the conditions though)
well in the united states we have a law that alows the use of other people intellectual properties as long as its a parody. its bundled in with free speech. not sure about japans laws though
I always stray away from shows where I'll need to put a lot of time to catch up, but after seeing countless Gintama posts on Fj and now your comp of gifs, I'm convinced to start. Thanks, stranger.
The way Gintama works is through arcs, there's some story but you can pretty much pick up wherever you want. Sure, you have to watch the first few episodes to get to know who's who (and maybe the movies if you really want to catch up on the story), but after that it's not that necessary to follow the numerical order of the episodes from start to finish (arcs are usually 3-4 episodes long)
There is no gintama dub. It wouldn't really work anyway, because there are a **** ton of puns and references to things/people in japan that wouldn't translate well into english.
There was a sniper in the window above (or below, I don't remember) the girl's window.
He then got all pissed because the guy he was aiming at started to look really horny and he thought he had some sort of death fetish or some **** .
It was a neat little half-episode.
Yea, it took me one and half years to watch all of the episodes. I basically did a couple every other day and marathoned all arcs when I came across them. I enjoyed always having a new episode to watch again and again, I'm happy they started a season :3
You do have a long journey ahead of you. But take this from someone who has seen everyone of the episodes and is up to date on the currently airing season, you will not be disappointed. It's the best thing I've ever watched.
No, I don't think so. All the serious arcs are connected, and the character relationships are pretty important, and you would lose those, if you just started with the new season.
If you're going to watch it, then just be advised, the first 50 episodes or so are kind of dull, but it improves greatly after that.
