Why the hell doesn't anyone watch the english dubs instead?

they're normally pretty bad, i like samurai champloo's dub, though

I prefer to watch them subbed because I like listening to the language while I read along. I personally believe the original voicing is how it's supposed to be viewed, whether or not you understand it, but there are people who feel otherwise. For Samurai Champloo, the Japanese voice acting is really great. Even if you don't understand it, it adds a lot of personality to the series.

Sometimes dubs are okay, and other times they are horribly bad. This is especially aimed at certain anime that you saw sub'd first then saw dubbed.

Example: DBZ-dubbed. When Dragon Ball and DBZ first aired in America, the dubbed over voices were really good, then, years later when I saw an episode with the original voices I couldn't really take it. Goku sounded so horrible.

Now, you have other anime that just HAVE to be subbed. Naruto, for instance, the title character sounds like a girl with a cracked voice while dubbed. Practically EVERY single character in Bleach sounds like **** dubbed.

FMA, actually sounds better dubbed. It really comes down to preference, sometimes the voice-overs are better and sometimes you just shake your head and go searching for subs and if you can't find it then you give up and absolutely refuse to watch it dubbed.

It's because they tend to be bad, and I think that the Japanese voice actors are much better a projecting metions in their voices to the characters, which makes it all around much more enjoyable.

Most English dubs are **** compared to the original Japanese voice acting. However, I just got finished with this series yesterday and I thought the English dub was pretty damn good.

If Steve Blum is involved, it is good voice casting. Personally Cowboy Bebop, Full Metal Alchemist, Samurai Champloo, Dragon Ball Z and Gurren Lagann have my favorite english dubs. There are many that aren't bad. but the ones I listed just nailed it.

I can't watch anime unless it is English dubbed. This anime was actually really good dub.

I normally prefer the dub despite acknowledging that the Japanese acting is better. With subs it feels like it's the same five voice actors for every anime. In dubs every voice is unique. I can watch sub or dub, but there are some anime that I'm just too used to the English voices to switch over to Japanese.

Really? Because I can't tell much of a difference between most dub actors. Funi reuses most of theirs so it gets really dull.

On the contrary, I have several favorite seiyuu like Sawashiro Miyuki, Arakawa Miho, Nakata Jouji, and Sugita Tomokazu, and many others I could spot out of a crowd quite easily. Although it's probably because I've listened to several hundred more Japanese dubs than English.

Very true on the they all sound the same. Personally I dislike Japanese and Chinese accents. That might seem rude racist or what ever you want to call it. but that is just me. I also don't feel there acting is better probably because I don't understand what they are saying and that ruins the entire show for me. But yeah Anime good **** .

It's kind of odd to call Japanese and Chinese similar. Mainland Asian languages are a lot more similar. Japanese is pretty odd compared to say, Vietnamese, Chinese, or Korean. Personally though, Japanese is the only Asian language I can stand.

I am Canadian and I live in a really redneck place I have no experience with any other nationalities. So I apologize if I offend anyone And what you say about some dubbed actors sound the same very true. I have been confused a few times because of it.

Well, it's not that they sound alike, it's just that they use the same ones over and over because the pool is very small.

Least it's not Chinese though...god, that just makes my head spin. Korean is a little bit easier on the ears, like this
