Yeah, this is the main reason I don't purchase manga or comics, because I neither have a comic store nor a weeabo center of animangeré near where I live and shipping is ridiculous and for receiving something within' 2-3 months time with a company that doesn't forget where your package is comes at some sort of premium that assumes I'm successfully running 5 businesses and living in a mansion inside a castle atop a skyscraper made of gold or something.
When I do want to buy merchandise of a show or movie in my country, the price is sometimes tripled. Items that sell for around the price of 25 US dollars in japan will be sold in the states upwards to $100 and over. The real problem is that people will buy it at that price. Even Japaneses sellers know this and will increase shipping prices if they know that the item is going over seas. They will sell and item that is worth $15 with $75 shipping. I have bought items from Japan with low shipping rates in the past, so I cant see what would be the difference.
Luckily, through Amazon, they are dirt cheap for me too. I was just using the Gunpla as an example of some of the merchandise I buy. I have seen some model kits on ebay sell for double the price I see on Amazon. This picture is actually of a kit I bought a few years ago, back in 2006 I think, at an American store called Big Lots, back when Gundam had a market in the US. I don't think I have seen gundam merch in stores since 2008. Apparently from what I heard, store lost a lot money on Gunpla and figures back in the day, so now stores dont want to touch the stuff out of fear for loosing profit.
Nah, those people are suckers. All it takes is a smooth talking salesman and an artist who sounds unique to start selling that modern art like hotcakes.
You get best results with young to middle age rich women who want to be chic.
am i not allowed to make a simple mistake in my day to day life. also i suspect that i will be paying more attention to writing a resume than a random post on the internet. in fact i already have a resume written up.
Studio Bones is pretty damn tops when it comes to quality choreography and character design. Super quality work all around. Darker than Black Season 3 when
So sick of Running in the 90s. Legendary Heart, Power Two, Passport to Dance, Night of Fire, so many better titles, but Running in the 90s still garners the most attention, somehow.
ok look there are some fans out there trying to support the industry like me for example but how can I do that when japan doesn't give a **** about the non Japanese fans? Do I really have to pay like 4 to 5 times the value of something plus shipping because Bandai refuses to make a website that sells sailor moon merch? ******* scalpers on ebay trying to sell me a sailor moon pen for 50 dollars plus 20 shipping. The original price of the pen was like 6. ITS NOT EVEN A PROP its a regular ******* pen. Its madness. Its like they don't want our money.
If only region locks wasn't a thing i am sure they would make a much bigger profit.
Crunchyroll is a good idea limited by the region locks which in the end makes people just pirate again (i am one off them).
Aahh
This is pretty much the gist of it. I saw this video on youtube a few times and assumed it was something stupid, but this explains everything perfectly. It's actually pretty sad studios can't make the stories they want because they won't sell. Business is cruel. If only it was as simple as watching the episodes live so they could get ad revenue, it would be nice to see studios get the money they earned. Weird to think about the hundreds of thousands of dollars each of them could have had if foreign people could watch theirs shows on tv being on some 3rd party streaming site.
What the **** are you talking about the animation is garbage, it's stiff and awkward as **** . The project is far too ambitious. They're overworking their staff just to get the episodes out on time, the whole initial release of it was delayed because they couldn't even finish the first episode on time.
Pic related is the credits for episode 7. These people are what the Japanese call "2nd key animation". If the key animators don't have much time to work on their drawings, what they do is that they just try to get the movement down first and don't worry about the drawings themselves looking good, then they send those drawings to the second key animators who fill in and clean the drawings. It is extremely rare to see a studio consistently use this many 2nd key animators in their anime and it's usually a sign of a rushed project
Also the episode had 21 (or more) key animators working on it, which is also rare. Having that many key animators isn't automatically a bad thing, but usually you see studios use somewhere between 7 to 15.
Go watch Extra 1, it explains the animation, and you'll understand why they have such a large amount of staff working on it. They need that many people working because of the vast amounts of detail they're putting in.
**reycall used "*roll picture*"** **reycall rolled image**..... find then.
They draw like **** and make their things purposefully look unnaturally glossy and stand out awkwardly in the layers. You know, kinda the same way CGI does.
They're experimenting in a new animation style, so it's obviously going to look different to normal anime. Go watch episode 3.5 aka Extra 1, it explains all about the animation.
look, experimenting is what it is.... But if you think that's not CGI then you are ******* dumb and or have like what, 50 shows under your belt?
UFO is doing this "experimental" CGI cell shading ******** because they know that if it sells like it did on fate they can get away with a cheaper animation budget (they did in F/SN too, just mostly on weapons and on low key stuff)
I have basically no money (but an internet connection and computer, I know) so the one thing I've done is advertise the **** out of shows I like. I run a Facebook page inb4 autsimo, no love from parents, no gf, yadda yadda and every weekend, I talk about shows I like from the season. On weekdays, I watch random shows that I'm recommended and then talk about those if I like it. Aside from petty anime merchandise and figures, I haven't contributed much monetary value to the economy of anime production, but I think I have, to some extent, contributed by expanding the audience of shows that deserve attention.
A lot of anime sucks because hardly anyone wants original art. If the fan does not get that shower/pool/beach scene they are not happy. I have witnessed plenty of amazing shows get completely ruined because they decided to put as much stereotypical **** in as they could. An example from this season is school live, ******* amazing until they decided to put that ******* pool scene in, a complete waste of my time and I lost all respect for the creators. When ever you see an anime fan only watch the most stereotypical anime, please explain to them that they are the reason the anime industry is failing.
