their entire anime is strangely relatable.
but only if you live a really weird life.

I tried to watch it for the first time after watching Nichijou. It was really funny, but sometimes I just can't stand shonen.

From what I've read about it, I think the problem is the lack of character dephts and substancial relationships. What'cha think?

i think you're right, it could have been much better if they had stuck with the 3 main protagonists, or even the 3 "delinquents"; but by adding all the unnecessary characters, it got tedious. plus most of the extra characters weren't even funny.
/rant over.

I see. 8 ) It's difficult to make a perfect show. I don't think there can be "too many characters", but they indeed need proper relevance and must be interesting.

That can be difficult, so if you do that you must know what you're doing. They do it sorta good in Keroro Gunsou, but sadly they don't get out from the phase "status Quo is God".

There's many minor characters in Nichijou, but well. They're just there to fill some gags. It's not that great, but meh, I really like this show.

The fact there can't be "too many characters" should be evident within One Piece if nothing else, its got something like 500 different characters over its lifetime, and yet its STILL the most popular manga/anime in Japan, by quite a margin (in terms of the manga anyways).

That true. What happens is that in One Piece many of those characters are not involved in the same action. They're usually on the shadows, minding their own business and waiting for their next appearence.

...or, that's what I think. I actually stopped watching the anime after the sky islands arc and later read random volumes of the manga from my friends.

I stopped reading after the fishman island arc (the underwater one) as it just got too boring for me.
