The manga is a waste of time, it has less content than the anime does. I have no idea if the LN's are all translated, though I know at least 10 of 17 are. Probably some fan translations out there somewhere.
Well, they still explain a lot about the economic system. I think the manga just needs more time... and you're right, they need to cover a lot more of the actual content, but the artwork does justice to the caliber of the story.
After Season 2 ended, I never really got rid of the annoying feeling of suspense, how was it going to continue, what happens next!? I read a few light novels and came across someone who told me the ending.
They continue their journey together and decide to chase down Eve to get Lawrence money back. Of course its hard to get out of the town because of the riots. So they manage to get onboad of a ship thats heading down stream for furr trades and so on. Holo being Holo of course won't admit her feelings towards Lawrence and she still thinks its best to part ways as soon as they reach Yoitsu. Lawrence of course tries to make the journey as long as possible, to stay longer by her side.
(Gonna fast forward a bit)
They leave Lenos, meet a little boy on the boat that travels along with them. To others they start to look like an actual family now. They come to some town and find out that the church is using the bones of some wolf God as an artefact much to Holo's anger. They embark on a journey to get the remains back and Holo wants to bring them home to Yoitsu with her or something. (I don't know if they make it)
Anyways, during their journey Holo slowly starts to see that she fell in love with Lawrence after all and that its not about their little fights that gives their relationship "spice". On the return journey they head to the town of Nyohhira, famous for the hot springs. Holo meets another wolf and learns more about the boundaries between humans and Gods. Though she is afraid more than anything to lose Lawrence one day, she cannot conceal her feelings any longer.
They never reach Yoitsu, open a bathhouse titled "Spice and Wolf" and get married. She gets pregnant with his child at some point too. Holo knows that Lawrence will die and she will long outlive him. She was afraid of that for a long time but reached the decision she'd rather live one small part of her life with Lawrence than face the long years of her live alone. So its a bittersweet ending.
Side note: Holo always teased Lawrence with how many men she apparently had in her lifetime. At some point she admits that Lawrence is the first she felt this way for and will be the last.
Thanks for the ending! Bittersweet in the knowledge she will outlast him I was tossing around the theory that if he Ate the wheat she resided in she would come to reside in him instead. He would like the wheat never rot ie grow old and die. and her life would become be forever bound upon his survival. so in a way she would lose some of her immortality (forever bound to a weak human) and he would gain some (always stays a weak human) but comforting in that their feeling came to fruition.
I imagine them taking on a third passenger to bring some entertaining dynamics to their arguing, i want to see that now.
them never reaching yoitsu is touching, they never reached their destination so they never have to part ways. although it makes me think that on his deathbed she would take him in her mouth and take him to yoitsu, so that when their time together must end, they would part finishing the journey they started together.
Yeah, its not a great pic of the tail, it looks better in some of the other shots. There was a guy on Flickr who took a lot of shots that year that shows some better
