Let's face it, the math just doesn't work out on this one, either.

I think Histugaya's at least angled a bit better than damn Sasuke.
User avatar #57 to #53 - sagedivinity (09/18/2013) [-]
In the anime you can see that the sheath on Sasuke's sword pivots in the strings holding it, allowing him to remove the weapon.
User avatar #58 to #14 - areo0420 (09/18/2013) [-]
Well, the sheath disappears... its a Hyourinmaru thing
User avatar #26 to #14 - iamnuff (09/17/2013) [-]
well, he does spend most of his screen-time complaining about being so short.

perhaps if Hyourinmaru wasn't so ******* long, then it wouldn't bother him so much?
#59 to #26 - kuchikirukia (09/18/2013) [-]
At least he doesn't need wheels for it.

I thought the masters (I haven't watch the show in awhile...) could control the size of their zanpaku
User avatar #32 to #31 - iamnuff (09/17/2013) [-]
eh, they say they can (one mentions that Ichigo's hugeass thing is nothing special, they all compress their power or something) but you don't see anyone actually resizing their weapons unless that's explicitly their power (like Gin)
User avatar #34 to #32 - articulate (09/17/2013) [-]
They are probably most comfortable fighting with them in that form. Maybe it takes a lot of time to do so they can't be ****** to do it.
User avatar #72 to #32 - newforomador (09/18/2013) [-]
The reason Ichigo's sword is always so big is because it's always in it's shikai (released) state. Most of the other Soul Reapers keep their blade in it's normal form and only release it when they're fighting a stronger enemy. Plus, if they do resize it, it's probably right as they're pulling it out of the sheath.
#50 to #32 - acidrapper (09/17/2013) [-]
well hasn't ichigo's sword been resized everytime he gets a new form?
#54 to #50 - bigmanblue ONLINE (09/18/2013) [-]
thats because the sword changes to its released/bankai form
its kind of a different sword not a simple resize

These guys have bigger swords

Final Fantasy advent children cloud vs kadaj and sephiroth full
User avatar #25 to #21 - iamnuff (09/17/2013) [-]
Cloud has a leather strap, because Zanbato would be impossible to draw from a conventional sheath, Sepy has a normal looking one, but I don't think we ever see him actually draw.

if we do, he probably just swings the sword and lets the sheath fall to the floor.

that's basically the only way to draw a nodatchi.
#27 to #25 - iamnuff (09/17/2013) [-]
**** , forgot my reaction image.
User avatar #30 to #27 - zomaru (09/17/2013) [-]
Actually, Its on a magnet on his back. Thats the only way it could stay put like that (Ignoring Physics). Although, he might have a strap in the movie, I have yet to watch that.
User avatar #33 to #30 - iamnuff (09/17/2013) [-]
Velcro on sword, old adventurers trick.

but seriously, in advent children he has this hugeass leather harness that looks like it can hold all the swords that make up his sword, simultaneously. (the buster sword is the one thats made out of 7 other swords or something, right? i barely remember)
User avatar #35 to #33 - flifli (09/17/2013) [-]
Called the butterfly's edge and it seems Sephiroths blade just appears unsheathed
User avatar #79 to #35 - iamnuff (09/18/2013) [-]
you think the animators tried to come up with a way to make it look natural, but couldn't then just decided " **** it, lets just skip that part"?
User avatar #81 to #79 - flifli (09/18/2013) [-]
Yeah they just added to his bad assery as in advent children he blocks the butterfly edge before it appears ^.^

Odachi. Mother. ******* . ODACHI.
User avatar #29 to #28 - iamnuff (09/17/2013) [-]
yeah, i guess you're right, there's no curve to that blade.
User avatar #43 to #28 - navadae (09/17/2013) [-]
calm yourself... both are correct, nodachi OR odachi
#75 to #43 - magmon (09/18/2013) [-]
Actually, Nodachi is a corruption of Odachi coming from English's need for "an" before a word starting with a vowel. It comes from the misheard "An Odachi" becoming "A Nodachi". Nodachi is wrong.
User avatar #78 to #75 - iamnuff (09/18/2013) [-]
no,

Nodatchi, Odatchi, Kodatchi.

seeing a pattern here?

regardless, Nodatchi means field sword, not sure what Odatchi means.
User avatar #82 to #78 - navadae (09/18/2013) [-]
Odachi is "great sword" or "large sword", nodachi is yeah field sword which is just a different name for the odachi

...zankantou
User avatar #76 to #73 - iamnuff (09/18/2013) [-]
?

Zanbatou just means "horse cleaving sword" its a catch all name for all japanese bigass swords.
User avatar #77 to #76 - iamnuff (09/18/2013) [-]
then again, Buster is hardly japanese styled, so whatever i guess.
User avatar #5 - animedudej (09/17/2013) [-]
you do know how one draws a Katana right? i mean they are pretty long swords
#83 to #5 - John Cena (09/21/2013) [-]
The Katana is worn on your left side, just above the hip, cutting edge facing upwards. Your right hand is placed on the hilt and the left on the scabbard (Not using the Japanese terms for ease of understanding). as you draw the katana horizontally in front of you, your left hand rotates the scabbard so that the cutting edge is facing away from your body, and pulls the scabbard backwards slightly.
User avatar #24 to #5 - iamnuff (09/17/2013) [-]
a Katana draw is based on its curve, a Chokuto has no curve in the blade, meaning it needs a completely different draw method, in the position that he's trying, it would basically be impossible.

either the sheath would fall out of your belt (because you pushed it too far down) or your arm wouldn't reach far enough to clear the sword from the sheath. (as pictured)
#7 to #5 - laxwarriord ONLINE (09/17/2013) [-]
Its not a katana
User avatar #10 to #7 - terezius (09/17/2013) [-]
Yes it is, katana is japanese for "sword".
#18 to #10 - John Cena (09/17/2013) [-]
no it isn't. Katana is a type of sword. Katana, Tachi, Nodachi, Wakizashi, Odachi, Uchigatana were all types of swords
