"I'm not gay"
"So you're homophobic then?"
User avatar #117 to #23 - twiceasfun (01/11/2016) [-]
I got chewed out by sjw's for being transphobic by not being pansexual...I'm trans

"I don't want all this gay porn..."
"WHAT ARE YOU, A HOMOPHOB?"
#3 - warvolk (01/11/2016) [-]
It's just a simple joke, I doubt anyone in the world of onepunch man is homophobic when we have freaking puri-puri-prisoner as one of the highest ranking and strongest heroes, and there is no one gayer than him

Except that he's a mocking stereotype and a rapist.
User avatar #82 to #3 - scorcho (01/11/2016) [-]
i'm usually not that guy, but that character actually strikes me as somewhat homophobic.
NOT THAT THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT OH MY GOD I DID NOT MEAN FOR THAT TO SOUND POLITICALLY CORRECT
#94 to #82 - anon (01/11/2016) [-]
I can see that, and I cringed when he came up, but at the same time, I think it's just a difficult to swallow joke.
#110 to #94 - anon (01/11/2016) [-]
With a character like that I imagine there are a lot of jokes involving difficult swallows.
#90 to #3 - anon (01/11/2016) [-]
he is probably one of my favorite characters but im not gay
so I can't be a homophobe right?
User avatar #100 to #3 - admiralen ONLINE (01/11/2016) [-]
They should be homophobic though, since hes a rapist
#25 to #3 - anon (01/11/2016) [-]
Well. He is the weakest of the strongest heroes. And he's kind of stupid. And it's implied he's a rapist.
User avatar #42 to #25 - europe (01/11/2016) [-]
Not implied, he is a rapist

Saying he's the "weakest of the strongest" is like saying Mike Tyson ranks fairly low in a world of fighters with Bruce Lee, Ip Man, and Muhammad Ali.

Is that true? Absolutely.

Can he still pulverize just about any other fighter around? You bet your sweet ass.

Also, I'm fairly sure Saitama is dumber than he is, and he's not a rapist, just a sexual sadist. That is, he gets turned on by violence and shows his love via assault.

he's problematic because he's an offensive caricature of a homosexual

I mean, all the characters serve as caricatures in one way or another, but SJWs don't care about trivial things like that when they see a chance to get offended
User avatar #16 to #13 - captainprincess ONLINE (01/11/2016) [-]
He is an offensive caricature of a homosexual
and I, a homosexual, ******* love him
he's hilarious and beautiful like a fine oil painting
#18 to #16 - anon (01/11/2016) [-]
Can't say it better myself. People need to learn to lighten up.
User avatar #19 to #18 - captainprincess ONLINE (01/11/2016) [-]
what people really need to learn is how not to surrender strength to offense

offensive is only taken, never given
Any power it has over your or anyone else is your own fault
If something offends you, you have chosen to give that power

Otherwise, it is, at worst a joke that didnt make you laugh
#67 to #19 - anon (01/11/2016) [-]

That is correct.
However, it does not mean that going around and being the biggest douche you can be is a good thing, as some people seemingly believe.
User avatar #123 to #85 - captainprincess ONLINE (01/12/2016) [-]
No it doesnt

But it does mean you've every right to do that if thats what you want to do

i agree.
you certainly have the right to do so, but don't be surprised when your behaviour carries social sanctions with it.

If the line was used to 'solidify Saitama's sexuality' then I don't see the problem. Many manga authors have expressed that they don't like their characters being used in yaoi or **** . When you create characters they're your own, you have a specific idea of who they are and what you want them to be, seeing people changing their sexuality for 'muh yaoi' in particular isn't something all authors are happy about.

On a similar note, George R.R. Martin doesn't like people using his characters for fan fiction because he believes using other people's worlds and characters is lazy and cheap, he encourages people to create their own thing.
User avatar #115 to #2 - infinitereaper ONLINE (01/11/2016) [-]
Everything in writing is borrowed from somewhere, however. Game of Thrones, though unique in it's own right borrows plenty of fantasy elements, dragons being one of the biggest.
#15 to #2 - anon (01/11/2016) [-]
Now if only G.R.R. Martin could create something original HIMSELF instead of ripping off bargain-basement fantasy and laundry-room soap operas....
#62 to #15 - anon (01/11/2016) [-]
I like how everyone is thumbing this down, even though George R.R. Martin was born George R. Martin, but added a second middle name so he could be like J. R. R. Tolkien.
He deliberately wastes time when writing SoIF books because he's waiting until people see him as a fantasy legend like Tolkien.
User avatar #70 to #62 - pipeworks (01/11/2016) [-]
He was born George Raymond Martin. The second middle initial is for Richard, which is his confirmation name. That's an additional name some Catholics take when they undergo confirmation, the act of receiving the sacrament for the first time.

He took the name when he was thirteen, as part of a religious ceremony. It has nothing to do with Tolkien.

they're probably the same anon, and if not, anon #2 is agreeing with anon #1 which implies that he's trying to use the information to paint GRRM in a negative light.

Like that's going to stop any reasonable person. Porn doesn't have to be Cannon to the main story.

Though I agree with George R.R Martin, that's not a reason to stop from making porn. What difference does it make if someone writes a story about Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy, and a story about two original villains?
Trick question: Seeing Harley get revved up is my fetish. Some random chick, ain't.

It makes sense. Women are portrayed as sexual objects in today's society and nobody bats an eye, but as soon as anyone says something about it they're killed by men with guns over the internet.

The problem here is that this person is selfish. This person wants an interesting character to be made and then they fill in the rest to their ideals. They want an Ad-lib hero.

**** off. That character is not yours. You did not invent it. You do not get to choose what his sexuality is. You don't get to choose what his favorite flavor gum is. You don't get to choose what color light saber he wields. You don't get to choose his catchphrase.

It's not your character.
#50 to #5 - anon (01/11/2016) [-]
... Actually, yeah, they can choose all that. In their fanfic. But not in canon, so they should stop ******* whining.

LGBT: *clapping* "So progessive. It's important that a character can express himself"

that's a joke ive heard used millions of times haha why would someone think a simple sentence like that had such a huge meaning, people should just enjoy humor not dissect it

Tumblr. Duh?

People have a tendency to look to much into things for some god damn reason. Kinda like when an english teacher told you blue curtains in the main character's home represented their sorry and depression, when the writer meant the curtains where fuggin' blue.

Except it's people who've read a bit of Sociology/Women Studies/Race Studies, and think everything is an attack against their culture because if you look hard enough, everything is offensive.

That would actually be very funny.

Though I wonder if there's anything from the past that we though was barbaric/curious, but it turns out was something we commonly do now.
#66 - darcabyss (01/11/2016) [-]
Oh no, Saitama misunderstood what somebody said, thus making it mildly funny, but it also confirmed he's heterosexual, or possibly even asexual (who'd survive One Thrust Man?).

You're being personally insulted, and you are totally justifiable in your rage.

It'd be nice if people like that would go play in traffic, but that involves them going outside...
