Sorry bro but there won't be a season 2 for a long time. Considering how the show skipped a lot of volumes which would make it weird to tie up the show from last season. Also, this is madhouse, known for not making many sequels to shows. We can only hope
i believe the main reason there isn't going to be a season 2 is because japan didn't like the anime at all, america loved the **** out of it but apparently OP main characters are disliked by Japan, they prefer the MC to be weak either the whole time or have them start weak and get stronger over time. I was surprised they mad aldnoah 2nd season and was very happy they did.
There probably will be a season 2. Not only was it extremely popular, but the creators are working extremely hard to get a second season - which again should be pretty easy given how popular it was.
Remember that hypetrain is always a dangerous thing. Your mind becomes blurred with overestimated expectations and it learns to hate what you loved after a while.
I hate anime but I might try this judging from the awesome fight scenes.
Two questions:
Is it filled anime tropes (like bad humor and awkward sex things)?
Is there a dubbed version?
there are no bad tropes imo at all in OPM, lots of slapstick with deadpan humor.
It's very gory and bloody, and honestly imo it's like 1 big 4th wall break, it's practically a running gag as OPM is a parody of all western/eastern super heroes. it's ******* awesome
if you're talking about overly perverted characters, none
if you're talking about tsunderes, Tatsumaki is one but she's hilarious anyway, OPM just brushes her off.
If you're talking about sex jokes like the girl falls on top of a guy, hell no there's none of that
there are lots of nods to other works, the villains are all parodies of some kind, and the actions scenes are ballin!
No need to sell it; I was already going to look it up, and probably everyone at this point that browses FJ knows whether or not to watch
I am waiting for a dubbed version, though...
I am in no rush. I'm not from an English speaking country so I grew up with subtitles, but I'm not willing to put in the effort for something in a genre I thoroughly fail to enjoy.
Hell, I went through the hard cringing and confusion of watching Dragon Ball Battle of the Gods and even then I waited for a dubbed version (which I eventually gave up on and just watched it subbed)
It's just anime ones I have a specific problem with.
I enjoy or am able to ignore them in other mediums, like games, but I'm not into Japanese cartoons enough to do so there. I'm right in the middle of a bad spot to be with them since I can recognize them but aren't familiar enough to get nods or when they're being played around with.
If you've seen anything of your typical shonen anime of the last 15 years, your Bleaches, Narutos, One Pieces, you'll pretty much see right away that they are being ripped on in a big way by OPM.
Gravity Falls and modern cartoons are a good example of this. There are a lot of elements I like within them but I can't get invested in them to watch since they're aimed at a different audience.
Not sure what the anime audience is but I know I'm not among them.
Oh, I'm not saying to not watch something because of it. I'm saying something emerges because of it that makes me not want to watch it/can't enjoy it.
I don't know what it is specifically, there's probably a lot involved either way, but the only thing I can recognize most if not all of them have in common is the intended audience which I think has other ramifications to them as a whole.
Look at MLP. I hear good things from fans from story to characters and humor, but those are all things I fail to see because I'm too distracted by how girly the tone is. It has an overarching feel that doesn't make me invested in it. How other grown up men can ignore or even revel in that baffles me but everyone is free to enjoy anything. I'm just not one of them which is a bummer since you'd want to have more things to enjoy rather than less (which is why we're having this conversation in the first place)
I usually prefer dubs, too, but trust me on this. The writing is quite strong, enough that I think it is probably a better read than it is to listen and understand the language. It is, after all, very closely adapted from the manga as I understand it.
I'm only on the PC during the night, making reading quite a chore. I can do it now fine but that's because I have the time to properly focus on what I'm reading, and have time to re-read as many times as needed.
Subtitles are just a thing my lifestyle doesn't always afford me. I do use them in case I've missed a word (which happens constantly thanks to incompetent sound designers making sound effects louder than conversations) but can't rely solely on them to understand what's going on.
No idea what shonen is and Google is just giving me more terms I don't understand...
I have not. I think I've watched an episode or two of One Piece, just one from Bleach (and tangentially while someone else was watching but only a few minutes at a time), Naruto a lot but as a kid.
I've tried quite a few during the years, but there's something inherit about the genre that screams "Not made with your demographic in mind".
Shonen is the action anime for teenage and younger boys genre. It's where 90% of the bad action anime cliches come from. Dragged out episodes, really unrealistic injuries being shrugged off when the hero catches a second wind, constant need to catch multiple second winds to begin with, newer and better transformations ALL THE TIME.
That's probably where I got my gut aversion to the thing as a whole.
Besides Himura Kenshin and Dragonball Z, there aren't any I've actually liked growing up or presently.
Hoping OPM will be the third on that very short list.
Like I said, OPM is making fun of all of that **** , and on top of that has some subtlety to its story and characters that goes deeper than simple parody. Just watch it.
oh, you know I will. Just preparing myself in case I'll want to stop watching because of my aversion to anime in general.
I'll wait for a dub, though...
**anonymous used "*roll picture*"** **anonymous rolled image**just watched one punch for the first time today
All.the.episodes.
I can die when I see season 2
there is a bug girl so monster musume, pri pri prisoner goes through a sailor moon type transformation but then just gets naked, there is an enemy called killer kabuto which is essentially just a giant crazed half man half stag beetle, and leomon is there because fairly early on the mc fights a giant lion man.
i watched OPM and expected... OPM
i mean, okay this is just me, im not a fan of dragonball, any of it, just personal taste... but with OPM i was hoping it was (and it was) closer to the original manga.. considering the mangaka drew it like a freaking anime anyways
i was really hoping that fights wouldnt take like 20 episodes (and they didnt, they took as long as you`d expect, barring the boros fight which they extended prettymuch just to get 13 eps)
Bang is actually inspired by Zeno and Netero. He even walks like Zeno, with his hands on his back and leaned forward. Guessing the mangaka is a HXH fan.
