''Synopsis

Overlord seems to have a lot of potential, especially with the world building and politics.
But the protagonist is just too overpowered.
Every fight so far boils down to the enemy saying " Wha?? How can he be that powerful?" right before getting demolished.
It just leaves me so unfulfilled.

Just wait a couple episodes. he has to fight a subordinate, who got overpowered by a item that could effect even Ainz. and while the anime doesn't convey it very well, Ainz is perpetually terrified of encountering someone or something stronger than himself. Just wait for the next couple episodes.

Shalltear is essentially an antimage created to be a perfect counter to magic users. Shalltear is the boss of 3 floors for a reason, she's one of the strongest beings in all of Nazarak.

Not gonna lie, I was expecting Clementine to be more of a recurring opponent and a serious threat instead of someone who got squished like a bug during her first encounter with the MC. Apparently the lesson to be learned here is that nobody ***** with Ainz Ooal Gown.

Well, he's gonna encounter one eventually. So far he's been playing on godmode, and as everyone who's ever played a video game (and I assume that includes the writer) knows, that's only entertaining for a little while at best. He's bound to encounter someone he can't just brush off in time, and I'm kinda excited to see that encounter.

You'd be right, sort of. With the amount of episodes remaining I'd guess the next four will all be about the Bloody Valkyrie arc...
He has to fight one of his guardians.
After I read that scene in the novel I've seriously been looking forward to seeing in the anime. Also, I'd recommend giving the novel a try, since the first season of the anime will be ending after four more episodes.

I've been reading the novel in my spare time. It's great, lot more detailed than the manga or the anime, but I still love the anime in it's own right.
As for the guardian bit, Shalltear's rebellion was mentioned at the end of the last episode, but she herself has admitted that she's no match for Momonga.

No matter how she struggled, she couldn’t break free of the arms’ restraint. But Clementine didn’t stop struggling, it was hard for her to breathe and her vision narrowed.
“The dance of death?”
She didn’t have the strength to listen to the soft voice.
With the sound of vomit, filth was sprayed onto Ainz. The red light within Ainz’s eye socket flashed with disgust
Clementine who had been using both of her arms while struggling to escape had become a spasming corpse.
Ainz didn’t lessen the strength in his arms, but squeezed harder. Shortly after, Ainz felt the sensation of a thick bone cracking from his arms.
Ainz release the body that couldn’t even spasm.
With a splat, Clementine’s body fell to the ground like trash. Her face was twisted into a bunch from pain and horror, a terrible sight. She was like a fish caught from the ocean, her organs visible from her mouth.
Taking out his infinite flask, Ainz washed himself clean from the vomit with the endlessly flowing water. At the same time, he said quietly to Clementine:
“I forgot to tell you… I am very stubborn.”

Halfway through this series it switches perspectives to a completely new mc and it continues like that for an entire story arc, it was actually pretty fun i guess, and the new mc was an adorable female lizard named crusch lulu
