Because as soon as series finish airing on TV they get released as Blu-Ray.

Most of the time with a higher-quality (not speaking of resolution here, but scenes remade for example by removing censoring steam etc.) and collectibles for the fans.
Fans of the series would then buy it and be happy.
Just like a normal Bluray. Really.

In case this was nothing but pure bait:

But why would it need to be high def lol?
anime is low def, that is why so many shows can be produced so quickly, the visual trick is making the stencils look nice over artistic backgrounds.
Notice most background people do not even move in anime, it is to save in production cost.

Basically what i am saying is 95% of anime is produced in 720p.

Yeah. But DVDs are **** and like I said: It's not about the resolution.
It's more like buying collector-editions to support the producers and to get the collectibles.

The Blurays are upscales, yes - but it doesn't change the fact that the overall quality improves quite a bit. More details, better animation. That stuff.

Disregard the colour change. That's a kind of thing the company is pratically famous for.
