Thanks for all the recommendations! Also, I forgot to add that I need for the audio to be in English

You won't get far with that attitude, but Baccano! has an amazing dub

Okay faggot, here's what you do.
Watch Fullmetal Alchemist. It's basically the gateway anime. Others that could be descriped as such are Death Note and Code Geass. Then if you've seen and liked those you can move on to "classics" like Cowboy Bebop, trigun, Berserk and Neon Genesis Evangelion, all very easy to get into and should grap your interests.
Of course this is not how you have to do it, but it's a little suggestion from me.

One Piece is what got me started, I highly recommend it.
However, you will be spending a long time on this show if you get into it, so buckle up and enjoy all the action, comedy and heart-wrenching plot you can imagine.

Because your newer, I'd recommend starting with something a little lighter. Look up Mirai Nikki, future diary. It's a easy going romantic comedy for all ages. What it with the family if you have one. Gantz is another light title to look into as well.

It really depends on your preferences.

Take myself, for instance. I am not too partial to harem animes, however there are a few of them which catch my attention because I enjoyed the characters and their personalities (Examples are: To Love-Ru, Shuffle!). Generally, my favorite animes consist of equal parts story (plot, theme, character development etc.) and action, which is why shows like JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (most unassuming name ever), Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Elfen Lied are so attractive to me.
I'm not sure how to categorize it, but Bakemonogatari is also a good bet. If you like mythology and wouldn't mind hearing minor details about Japanese myths, it's definitely a good one.

Recommendations with an asterisk (*) next to them indicate that they have an English Dub.

Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha* (Pic related) is among the most badass Magical Girl shows you can ever hope to watch. The Pretty Cure franchise is also an excellent, yet badass take on the genre in their own right because it's more like Power Rangers in that they fist fight more often than fling wands, just with more magic and less mechs. Most of us got into the genre thanks to Sailor Moon* and Card Captor Sakura*, but my favorite take of the genre from the 90's is Magic Knight Rayearth*, which is very much like an RPG in anime form.

For other classic takes on the action genre, you'd want to see Trigun*, Cowboy Bebop*, Yu Yu Hakusho*, Full Metal Alchemist*, Scryed*, and Scrapped Princess*. These also provide very compelling narratives and will keep your interest once you begin watching.

I also find that Slice of Life shows tend to be very easy pickups and often mix comedy. For that, I recommend Chuunibyou demo Koi ga ****** , Nichijou, Hidamari Sketch, Azumanga Daioh*, K-On!*, Lucky Star*, Mahoraba: Heartful Days, and Gakuen Utopia Manabi Straight.

If you are into drama, definitely check out Air*, Kanon*, Clannad*, Angel Beats*, and Anohana. May your tears flow like ours did.

Yes, I have many favorites from many different genres, but I hope that these shows catch your interest. A few of these are quite obscure and really need more love.
