Don't you think life would be hilarious if you could always tell which commonly-admired workpiece was actually half-assed and it was the viewers who made up the meaning of it?
Some modern art is nice, like Kumi ********* and Guy Laramee. They use the founding principles of the art reform, which is more freedom from the standards to allow more expression in art This is good, this led to lots of good art . Unfortunately this was soon turned into no standards in art this is bad .
A few people still have standards This is good and use the freedom of expression to explore differing ways of creating art.
Well how often do you go an admire artwork and try to figure out the meaning? Because the people who pay to see, buy and have post-modern art made do it a lot.
Post-modern artwork is commonly admired by the people who don't see the value in artistic standards. There are some artists who still have standards though, and my friend does art as a hobby, I asked him once and the meaning behind his art is, in his own words, "There ain't no ****** meaning, you think any of the other ******** they sell has meaning? I lost a gallery position to a ******* blue canvas. I make **** that looks cool."
Your friend sounds pretty inarticulate or that he doesn't think his pieces through entirely, or is just uninspired. There are post modern impressionist pieces that "look cool" but they usually represent something. It doesn't have to be some huge deep complex metaphor or anything, but the point of art is that it's a form of expression, so naturally, you should have something to express.
The thing he expresses is that he saw a way to make something look cool. If someone wants to find meaning in it that's fine by him but he just wants to make things that look cool. The point of art is to have a product at the end which is art. If your product has a meaning, all the better for it. If it doesn't, then others can find their own meaning. And when you artistic standard so low you can call this picture art, then I don't think those 'artists' who have all that meaning and symbolism behind their 'art' are allowed to complain about anything. The picture is of the Los Angeles county museum of art. That rock is considered art.
"The point of art is to have a product at the end which is art. I"
Nope that's the point of production. Art by definition is a form of expression, you'd be hard pressed to cherry pick an example where it isn't defined as so.
And in this case the expression is "I think this looks cool"
If art, by definition, is a form of expression. Then the point of art is to have a product at the end which is art. To not have that as a point is an invalid concept, otherwise the point of art would not be to have art at the end. Which would mean no expression has taken place.
To end with a product which meets the definition of that product, you must complete the requirements for that product. So to produce art, expression must occur.
Or in simpler terms, if the point of art is to end with art, then the process of art is to express yourself in an artistic way. Which would result in art having occured/been created
In Guilty Gear, the Japanese are very adept in channelling energy, which made them a target of the villain of the games. to the point where they are nearly extinct because of said villain destroying Japan. May, the girl shown hoisting an anchor here, is Japanese.
Well it doesn't seem like itd be any more or less effort. He then says He just cant do it, so I was wondering if there was more to it, but thanks for the reply.
Oh, that's just a matter of detail. If he drew his front he'd have to draw his uniform and his face. Like this though, his head is a black circle and his back is a black rectangle. Less detail.
didn't she (the artist) at some point threaten to commit suicide if people wouldn't like FullMetal Alchemist?
only reason why FMA doesn't have a really high score with me, despite being good
Just spent 30 minutes on google looking for anything hiromu arakawa would have sayed about suicide. the only thing i could find was a few people quoting arakawa's "equivalent exchange" on some suicide support forum.
Didn't I read somewhere by some random fag post that she (the artist) at some point threaten to commit suicide if people wouldn't like FullMetal Alchemist?
only reason why FMA doesn't have a really high score with me, despite being good, because I'm a pleb and try to act cool
