Is ************ worth watching i got to the end of the puppet thing with sakura (ep like 40 something) and stopped because they were still releasing episodes and i sorta forgot about it.

Also, pretty sure you watched up until like episode 26-30, that's when the puppet still happened I believe. It only gets better from there.

tbh naruto is one of those manga/anime that I grew up with, it's such a shame it's got dragged on for so long that it loses it's quality over time. But, I still respect the series, and definitely recommend to anyone that enjoys anime.

The episode to filler ration is around 0.00001. But seriously watch it all the way to the moment when sasuke starts to tear **** up and after he's done don't bother

Also, try to watch them based on season. Fillers tend to be massive season long story arcs that, while ok time killers, suck concussive monkey balls when your trying to rush your way through the series.
Here's a list of filler episodes. If you want to finish the series quickly, avoid these episodes at all costs
57-71, 90-112, 127-128, 144-151, 170-171, 176-196, 223-242, 257-260, 271, 279-281, 284-295, 303-320, 347-361, 376-377, 388-390, 394-407

mrnpc (04/02/2015) [-] I feel like I should add that, if you REALLLY like Kakashi, you will enjoy the Shadow of the ANBU arc episodes 356-361. It's really the only filler worth watching. It bridges the gap between His training with the Fourth Hokage until his introduction as Sensei of team 7

Do you know where the filler arcs are for Naruto? That's what killed it for me last time, getting caught in their first big filler arc where it was 2-5 episodes, Naruto ends it by hitting the big bad with a Rasingan, wash rince repeat

mrnpc (04/02/2015) [-] The manga was how I caught up with the series before I watched it. It is definitely quicker, and you will definitely be a pro at reading manga by the time you reach chapter 700. Each chapter takes about 5-10 minutes to read. I got from chapter 113 where i was in the anime at the time to 500 the 4th shinobi war in about 5ish hours of very diligent reading.

redbannerman (04/02/2015) [-] Ah, my favorite show about extremely non-ninja-y ninjas. They don't Sneeki the Breeki hardly ever, they don't assassin's creed anything, I don't recall ever seeing them ever using black eggs, The **** is with those bright outfits.

anon (04/02/2015) [-] You know, the show might have actually been good had they focused on being ninjas. Embracing the mythos behind them was actually a good idea to give them super natural abilities. But then it got caught up in fillers. But, really, when it came down to it, when made this show bad was that it focused on "drama". Without having the watched the show in over 10 yrs I still know enough, thanks to obnoxious fans bringing it up where it doesn't belong, to say the overall plot makes no logical sense. A character with no redeemable qualities gets redeemed and gets off scot-free because he's popular. Majority of fans entirely watching the show just to discover the "canon pairings" when not only was it not the focus of the show, but so untouched there was no justifiable reason for including it the story other than milking the sheep.
I know a lot of fans of the show would read this and instantly just **** on it because how dare someone talk negative of their favorite show. Well, here's some common sense, you know something is wrong a with a show when it is so unanimously despised outside the fandom.

ZenMacros (04/02/2015) [-] I don't think it was just the emphasis on drama that did it in. I loved the show, but one big problem I had with it was that it lost its purpose midway through. It was about am orphaned kid who was shunned by everyone in his village for simply existing. This kid wanted to be the lead ninja in his village, but he was asscheeks at being a ninja. He was awful at just about everything he tried, and that made him a true underdog. And in the face of adversity, he would usually have a flash of brilliance and pull out a genius battle tactic to give him the upper hand. Naruto was a ******* cool series when it was that.
But after the time skip, he just kept getting more and more powerful until he was almost godlike in terms of power. The show then became much less an underdog story and more of a typical "hero saves the world" story. Had they left out all the insane powerups and the literal dozens of Rasengan variations, he could still have made a believable underdog.
And along with becoming too powerful, there was a general power creep with every major character, like in DBZ. Everyone ended up being so powerful with magic moves that you pretty much forgot they were supposed to be ninjas. It was cool in the beginning because they still could've gotten away with the ninja theme, but just had some light mystical powers to boot, like in real life ninja lore. But when everything was all said and done, they ended up being more like superheroes rather than ninjas.
All this is easily explained by the fact that Kishi only had an ending in mind, and everything that led up to that point was written on the fly, causing way too many inconsistencies for its own good.

questionableferret (04/02/2015) [-] I really wish Naruto had maintained it's level of quality past the Chunin exam arc, but after Neji's fight with spider-guy stuff starts to fall the **** apart and the obvious weaknesses of Kishimoto's writing starts to show through.
For starters, unnecessarily involving irrelevant characters. Did you know you could actually fit all of the Konaha 12 in the Sasuke retrieval arc? Swap puppet-guy for Shino, Temari for Ino, Gaara for Ten Ten, have Hinata show up to help Neji and have Sakura show up in the Sasuke/Naruto fight or something and boom, all 12 of the supposedly important characters end up mattering in a single arc instead of roping in some unrelated characters for some ******** .
From there **** just went downhill from Sakura's only important contribution to a fight ending up being essentially a puppet for someone five times her age who does most of the work to Sai... the **** was the point of Sai, to doing **** all with Orochimaru, making all of the important villains Uchiha, and giving all of the important villains sympathetic redemptions.
Maybe one day the series will get a reboot like DBZ Kai only they'll fiddle with the writing to make it actually good.
