User avatar #129 to #73 - kladkake (10/07/2015) [-]
You know this is actually sort of relevant in Fmab. Armstrong and his family are all about that artistic beauty. On the other hand, Sig is the sort of dude that picks up the grizzly bear a girl dropped in the street and hands it back to her.
#126 to #73 - anon (10/07/2015) [-]
Strongmen's bodies look better. Bodybuilders are all veiny and **** .

User avatar #79 to #68 - HarvietheDinkle (10/07/2015) [-]
the only issue with this: Armstrong's muscles aren't for show. Have you never watched FMA:B?
User avatar #81 to #79 - dagold ONLINE (10/07/2015) [-]
Yes I have, and it is a fantastic ******* show. While in the show Armstrong is as powerful as he looks bear man is likely stronger as he has focused more on actually strength instead of toning. Granted this is also a show where a 120 lb woman threw a piano so y'know, anime.
User avatar #102 to #81 - Marker ONLINE (10/07/2015) [-]
Major Armstrong certainly has strength. Granted his alchemy expertise gives him an edge, but his natural muscles aren't all for show.
User avatar #103 to #102 - dagold ONLINE (10/07/2015) [-]
I feel like the original point of the comment has been lost in the light of how awesome major armstrong is.
User avatar #105 to #103 - Marker ONLINE (10/07/2015) [-]
Well doesn't mean we can discount Sig, either. In raw strength, I'd say the two are about equal.

Izumi, however, could throw them both across the room at the same time.
User avatar #106 to #105 - dagold ONLINE (10/07/2015) [-]
Izumi is pure hax, she only let the Elric brothers do all the winning so she wouldn't have to put up with the paperazzi.
User avatar #107 to #106 - Marker ONLINE (10/07/2015) [-]
Izumi's pretty much got a time limit on any given fight tho. If she overdoes it, she'll end up coughing up blood and having to tap out.

Or at least until Hoenheim came along and used his magical fixy powers.
User avatar #109 to #107 - dagold ONLINE (10/07/2015) [-]
Hoenheim the plot device. I feel like he didn't do much beyond show up, fix a couple things and step out of the fight.
User avatar #110 to #109 - Marker ONLINE (10/07/2015) [-]
Well he never was a fighter. Hell, he was barely an alchemist. He was born Slave #22. Couldn't barely do **** until a floating shadow in a jar taught him how to read and then turned him into a Philosopher's Stone with half the population of Xerxes. "Plot device" was really the only intended role for him.
User avatar #112 to #110 - dagold ONLINE (10/07/2015) [-]
A fair point. I might have been a bit disappointed because I expected him to show up and wreck **** but he just kind of... showed up.
User avatar #113 to #112 - Marker ONLINE (10/07/2015) [-]

I could be remembering wrong.
From what I remember, the Armstrongs were fighting Sloth, and they were about to get ****** up but then Sig and Izumi came in and saved them, and they ****** Sloth up together.
User avatar #144 to #142 - angelious (10/07/2015) [-]
no that cant be it...i recall the sloth fight but did it happen in a white room with stairs and **** ? also i recall there being some sort of ******** going on and all that jazz...idk its been too long since i watched the show.
User avatar #145 to #144 - mintea (10/07/2015) [-]
I think the room was white with stairs, yes.
I don't remember this at all, but this happened in FMA, not FMAB Alex Louis Armstrong vs Izumi Curtis

Is this what you were thinking of?
User avatar #146 to #145 - angelious (10/07/2015) [-]
no that is not...i never watched the original show till the end...i think my memory is just screwing me up..i am just..so sure they fought againts each other towards the end of the show... i have a very vivid memory of the four of them fighting...

i prefer the dubed version of FMA and FMA:brotherhood.... hate me if you want to but i think the voice actors fits way better and give more character to the characters the only anime i want to watch in Japanese is card capture Sakura
#59 to #56 - anon (10/07/2015) [-]
I'll come back to check your answer momentarily, but do you think translation is better in dubbed or subbed versions?
#62 to #59 - onipure (10/07/2015) [-]
cant really say anything about the subbed, but i think the jokes are way more fun in dubbed because of the reason that the jokes give a totally different impact when you actually hear them with that ceartain voice they use in a language you understand in.

but also gives you a totally different and more legit feel for the character when they are angry for example, because english voice actors have a wider range of how they sound instead of japan just sounds like the same from person to person and in many cases you cant tell the diffrent on who is who by just listen.

this was a bit much but kinda explains that it hase nothing to do with translation, its just the feel of the sounds and the fact that i dont wana sit and read in 110km/h and miss a ton of stuff happening on the screen.
and i dont wana say that japan just have bad voice actors, they are many verry talanted it is just that its not for me

I think subs are really ******* dumb. Why would you want to read what they're saying, thus taking away from the show you're trying to WATCH, when you could just hear.
User avatar #95 to #76 - unikornking ONLINE (10/07/2015) [-]
Once you've watched a bit of subbed stuff, it only is a little distracting. Though for someone like me I'm taking Jap classes , I can usually get the jist of what they are saying, glance at the subs, and still hear what they are saying in Japanese. Most people just block out what they're saying and register the voice when they read subs.

I read the FMA manga a few years back, and now I want to watch the anime (dubbed of course lol), but apparently as you said, there's 2 different shows: FMA and FMA Brotherhood. What's the difference between the 2? Which one would you recommend for someone who read the manga?
User avatar #133 to #121 - onipure (10/07/2015) [-]
because you have read the manga you already know what happens so it actually dosnt mater which you watch first.
both of them is awesome in its on way, but the first one as i heard dosnt follow the manga but brother hood does.
the biggest differences of these is the first anime is way more drama while brother hood is more brutal and targeting almost a 18+ audience.

but for those who havnt read the manga and dont want to and only want to watch the anime i heavilly recommend watch FMA before FMA: brotherhood.
the reason is that brother hoods first season they skip allot and just summary 50% of what happend in the original FMA, like maes hughes dies in the third episode or something like that.
but that is just what i think

Neon Genesis Evangelion is the only show i've ever found that I don't prefer dubs. Then again those dubs are ******* awful. They even tried adding in extra background sound effects for scenes like when they were at the pool. Who was in charge of that **** .

That aside I agree, I generally like dubs better.
User avatar #176 to #175 - onipure (10/11/2015) [-]
yeah i totally agree with you on evangelion, horrible dub
User avatar #97 to #56 - cagetheelophant ONLINE (10/07/2015) [-]
This isn't an unpopular opinion. The FMA dubs are the best in anime in my opinion. Far better than the original Japanese voice actors in my opinion.
