Character: Annie Leonhardt
Context: Main characters are trying to get her to get her to enter an underground tunnel (the "other hole"). She refuses, some stuff happens/ is revealed, then she completely loses it. This laughing scene did not happen in the manga (she just made a weird smile showing her teeth and maybe made a chucking sound).

I 'm caught up with the manga and we still have no idea why the "enemy" titans do what they do. So even though I like Annie, I have emotional friction regarding her as a result. It seems that maybe the author will write the story in a way that what she (and they) have done.....actually may be justifiable (though by all means I can't fathom what could be a good excuse).

Spoiler warnings are normal, yes. But I don't think that if both the manga and the anime reveal it, I need to make a spoiler warning. It's like saying "Snape killed Dumbledore" is still a spoiler, even though both the book and the movie already came out. If I had revealed who the Armored and Colossal titan are, which the anime hasn't revealed, that definitely deserves a spoiler warning.

....also because I am into the Armin x Annie ship (which isn't as stable as my other ship: the Eren x Mikasa ship........and the Sasha x Connie ship I guess

They definitely aren't evil. Perhaps it is comparable to the Nazi soldiers that were Nazis not because they believed in the ideals of the party, but because if they didn't go with the flow", terrible things would happen to them. Again, that does not excuse the severity of their actions, but it definitely humanizes them. A subliminal theme in this manga seems to be along the lines of "If I will be called a murder to save/protect/achieve [BLANK], then so be it. That's what it means to be a warrior/soldier".

Think about. Imagine that some powerful force is compelling the "enemy" titans that joined to the survey corp to commit these terrible acts. Imagine an impetus like "If you don't breach the walls, I will kill your whole family and all your friends" and that force has the power to do so. What would you do? Would you turn on the people in the walls in order to protect what is precious to you?

Though the objective answer is NO, the personal and most important answer is not clear. Many would say "Yes, I will kill them to protect my family/ideal/etc". It is this type of person, who goes with the flow, that I believe Annie was talking about when she said (paraphrase) "I just want the weak, those who are swept with the flow, to still be considered human". She was talking about herself. She is in fear of something. Of course being responsible for the deaths of so many people is horrific, but what would you do in her shoes, if my general hypothesis is correct. She, along with Bertholdt and Reiner, are perhaps in a sense victims of circumstance. Bertholdt in the recent chapters definitely showed himself to "not enjoy" what he has done (I think he said: "HOW COULD ANYONE ENJOY THIS?!"). Reiner and Annie are the same.

tl,dr Annie and the other are very human in their personalities.

I really wonder that myself. One thing I find so interesting about SnK is that even the similarly invincible titans are scared of something. Is there a bigger titan or something? Are there titans....WITH WEAPONS?! Still waiting for Historia to somehow become some magical winged flying titan.

Two things that really perks my interest are : (1) Why do they care about Eren so much? His titan form has nothing special. (2) What did Reiner mean when he said (paraphrase) "Ymir, do you really think this world has a future?" (maybe said "the waled city" rather than "world"; I think he said "world" though). And of course, I have a buttload of other questions in my mind.

By the way, I am really excited to see how Eren & Mikasa deal with the Titan that ate their mother. That's going to be great

.......WHY IS IT UPDATED MONTHLY!?!?!? The average author makes about 20 pages a week, so 80 pages a month. This one only does 40 pages a month. Come on! Either make 80 pages a month or release the normal 40 pages on a biweekly basis. This manga is a ******* gold mine. It is ridiculously good and thankfully ridiculously popular. Take advantage of that!

If I remember correctly, Reiner and Bertholdt are looking for him for some reason, so I feel like he is a rebel from the village with his own goals. Or maybe not the village, since I assume the village knew about 3DMG, which the Ape Titan didn't. By the way, the retard titans confuse me. Sometimes they work with the smart titans and sometimes they are the enemies. Why is that?

Which reminds me, was Ymir telling the truth about her circumstance? That she only wanted to take Historia away so that Ymir could be saved? The ********* (not the show ********* lol) feeling seemed legit to me.

The anime has a little bit of filler in some episodes (but unlike Naruto and co, it is good filler-->for example, the whole dumping the bodies to escape the titans and Annie doing the laugh). Also, episodes 3 & 4 (the training arc) were told as flashbacks in the manga, rather than displayed chronologically.

Otherwise, the anime is extremely faithful to the manga. And quite frankly, since the manga has.....a sub-par weird art style, it wouldn't be surprising to some to prefer the anime.

....I was so annoyed with myself. I mean, this is SUCH A GREAT MANGA, yet I literally never heard of it at all. Now it's like Code Geass level or something.

It doesnt seem like anyone has heard of the manga, and thats usually the way it goes. Popular mangas get animated, because it already has a fanbase. Did they just think it had enough potential as anime and then did it?
