You know, I'm not one to get mad about things like "but muh internet culture" or "but muh anime" but my god is this one of the most -- and I apologize in advance for using this ****** word -- cancerous posts I've seen.
No. I used to buy raw vhses from Japan, and was following the show since the 1980s. I will always like Dragonball, until the day I die, for the same reason that I will always like the NES, Ghostbusters, Robotech, Master of Orion, Voltron, and other things that impacted me as a child. It would be silly to change my opinions because one random anon also happens to be a cunt.
Because the show reminds me of happiness, and therefore causes happiness? Are you suggesting that isn't a good enough reason to like something? The plot was never deep, but the show caused entertainment, just like pokemon, or EVERY CARTOON YOU EVER WATCHED AS A CHILD. To dislike something you enjoyed as a child just because you're an adult is to rebel against fun itself, and unfortunately my life isn't awesome enough for me not to take fun where I can get it.
I know I'm feeding a troll here, but you caught me drunk so good job.
No, that's not a good reason. If you enjoy something for nostalgic reasons, then you don't actually enjoy it, you just enjoy the memories involving it.
That implies that I never liked it, which is crap, since I wouldn't have obsessed over it so much as a child, to the point of buying japanese raws, and learning japanese, just to be able to see the movies as they came out. I loved DBZ when I was a child, and I still love it, but I've seen ALL of it, a great many times. I can't wait to see the new movie that just came out, so clearly I still like the show.
Again, still probably being trolled, but I'm drunk and I do so love engaging in a debate over something as subjective as the enjoyment of a tv show.
Despite how inaccurate that statement is for Dragonball, I certainly enjoy some other shows with small fanbases, and I can honestly say "Pretty ******* good, thanks". This Mark Twain quote should sum up my opinion on the subject nicely.
DBZ has been off the air for more than 15 years. Your statement has as much relevance as saying "Adventure Time has more fans than Ren and Stimpy". There are large blocks of people who won't be vocal in any way about those older shows, even if they really like them, so to apply that comparison is disingenuous at best and ignorant at worst. I'm going with disingenuous because I'm still pretty sure you're a troll and are being entertained by my responses.
if you want to go on current events DBZ after 3 years on hiatas is returning with NEW episodes add to the 15 years streak and by reviews the fanbase could double from them
DBZ Kai was not a new show, it was a remastered version of an old show. Do you think there would be a lot of fans of G1 MLP remastered? Yeah, I agree that supposition would be pretty incredibly stupid. Why then would you make it for Dragonball?
Also, you keep positing that MLP has a bigger fanbase than DBZ, where is your evidence? The majority of grown men that I know hold true to 2 things, 1: They like DBZ 2: They don't like MLP. How wide are the demographics for the study you are referencing, where is that study located, was it peer reviewed and did it have a neutral control? These are all important things to know when you are making an assertion to try to back a ridiculous premise.
and right now one piece has an even bigger fanbase and you know the main charater of bleach, naruto, and one piece (all big name anime) all where based of GOKU
